Question about 1999 Honda Civic

2 Answers

Unexplainable noise I have a 5spd manual transmission, 1999 Honda Civic Ex with the 1.6L SOHC V-Tec. If the car is at about 25000 rpm and you try to go any higher, a noise that sounds like air is being forced out, comes from below the driver side door somewhere. It is very loud and it is driving me crazy. I have had numerous experts look at it and tell me what they think it is, and nothing they have told me is true so far. I have changed the plugs and plug wires, distributor cap, and even the old gasket at the front of the catalytic converter. There are no holes, leaks, or cracks anywhere in the exhaust; nor is there in the air filter housing. I am sick of dumping money into it, and the problem is still there. Does anyone know what it IS?

First... A Question... have you EVER jacked up the car and crawled under it and taken a GOOD look???
Sounds to me like you hooked a piece of plastic on the freeway and its' having fun under your car in the wind makin crazy noises ROTFL
Does your car have any performance issues? Poor gas mileage? Weak acceleration? Stalling? If not, then the issue is probably a silly one

Sound like a plugged cat.
some shops have a pressure guage that fits where the oxy sensor is and you can test your back pressure. i would recomend an exhaust shop.
