Question about 2000 Volvo S40
I was on the freeway doing 75 mph, when all of a sudden the engine overheated instantly. I pulled over the side of the road. Called a tow truck. The next day at the repair shop, the mechanic said the engine would not turn over, so I need to replace the engine????? The quote: used engine plus labor, $3900.00. Could it just be my head, and not the complete engine. Total miles on car is 115,000. Thank-you for your reply. Jeff
No lights came on when it overheated.
The thermostat went to the red immediately!!!!! I pulled over to the side of the road. In the morning the mechanic tried turning the engine over, did not turn over. He says it needs a engine. He wants to put in a used engine with 70,000 miles and charge me $3900.00. I am skeptical. Can it just be the head and it needs fixing???? Thank-you for your response.
