I have an '05 ranger 3.0 liter, Several days ago when I turned the key you could hear the fuel pump prime but nothing going to the starters solenoid. Jumping it did not work initially. It started working fine for several days then the same thing happened. The battery has tested out fine at 3 places. 12.6 VDC and 14.8+ VDC when running off the altenator. The dealership couldn't find anything wrong. Good connections at the battery and starter.
Any ideas?
Inertia switch...been there before.located under passenger side of dash.looks like a coke can with a button on top
Bad inertia switch, I just had the same problem.
When the problem happens again have someone tap on the starter while someone has to key to start possition once you tap the starter the solenoid should work and then you will know that you will need a starter.
What about the starter solenoid?

At the dealership everything tested out OK. I even change the position of the starter relay as 3 are the same. This had no effect.
