Change oil on 07 Fusion

With the new cartrige insert on the Fusion, I can change the filter insert and replace the O-rings all right, but only about a half quart of oil drained out and I can't find the drain plug. Do I have to remove some more covers underneath? I took out the 1 foot square cover but didn't see a drain plug. It is the 2.3 liter engine.

DUH----I figured it out for myself. What I needed to hear from you "experts" is that there are two covers on the undercover or shield beneath the engine....one for the filter and one for the oil pan.

The oil pan cover is round. You have to raise up the car enough so you can get under and see the printing on the cover. Never saw a shield on any car I had previously.

Why did Ford go back to the cartridge instead of the spin-on filter anyway?????

How do I install a new filter on a mazda b 2300 series pick up truck

07 mazda 2.3 oil filter is a small cartridge, filter assembly has a allen-wrench ~6mm screw to take out then the assembly screws off. It is on tight and comes with 2 "o" rings to replace. it is on the forward side of the oil pan. The filter costs about $12 and due to its cost and difficulty I've seen some that were never changed by the quick lube places.

Where is the oil filter located on my 2010 V6 Camry

Not to be mean... But if you can't locate the oil filter cartrige housing, which is located beside the engine, toward the top side of the engine bay, with the round cap that has a oil can stamped on it... Maybe you should have a certified Toyota mechanic service your car. Not all cars have a visible "Spin on" traditional oil filter. Newer Toyotas (and many other new cars) have oil filtering cartriges. They are in filter housings and can be accessed via a spin on cap. (this is not the oil fill cap typically found on the valve cover. Do not fill the engine oil through the oil filter housing.) Removing these can make a large mess, requires the replacement of at LEAST one critical o-ring, and should be done AFTER the oil has been drained. Good luck

Cant find oil filter on 07 ford fusion.and any idea on how yo replace

I have a 2006 with 4 cylinder. The oil filter is a cartridge style located at the front of the engine. First you must remove the rectangular door in the underbelly tray. You then need to locate thr round plastic cap about 3" in diameter. Remove the drain plug first and then using a filter wrench, remove the plastic cap. It's messy and I do not like it, but unless there is a conversion, I am stuck with it. Later years may have a regular filter, but I'm not positive on that.

Hello! Where is the oil filter located in 2009 Toyota Matrix

9_8_2012_4_09_58_pm.jpg The oil filter is on the right rear of the engine. The attached photo, viewed from the center rear of the engine shows the oil filter cover, which black, circular, and about 3 inches in diameter. There is a special oil filter socket wrench (64 mm, 14 flats) that mates to the 14 flat spots around the circumference of the filter cover. You can also see on the lower left, a spring loaded tab, ostensibly to prevent the filter cover from unscrewing and falling off.

Note that this is a "cartridge" filter, so what you are seeing in the photo is the filter cover, not the filter itself. After unscrewing the cover, the actual filter will be inside the cover when you remove it. The new cartridge filter should come with a new O-ring, which you will place on an indentation on the filter cover. Be sure to liberally lubricate the new O-ring with clean oil. Then insert the new filter into the cover, and screw the cover back into the engine. Be very careful that the O-ring stays in place in the cover indentation, and does not slip out to the cover flange. This happened to me once, and even though the cover was properly torqued, when I started the engine, the O-ring popped out and oil sprayed everywhere. The oil filter cover flange should mate right up against the engine, without the O-ring (or anything else) in between. I don't particularly like this design because it makes oil changing a little more tricky than the old fashioned spin-on filters.

I raised the front wheels about 5 inches using ramps. Without raising the vehicle, I think it would be extremely difficult to get under there to access the filter.

Audi tt 3.2 quattro oil filter change

The insert or cartridge filters are easy to change..You must jack up the front of the car, remove the engine belly pan. in the front of the motor there is a black cylindrical housing for the oil filter cartridge..On the bottom is a cap that just screws off..Unscrew the cap, take it off, slide the old insert off, then slide the new one on..Screw the cap back on and voila! you are finished..If the insert came with a new rubber o-ring, make sure to replace the old one on the cap.

Oil leak from oil filter

There is an "O" ring between the Oil filter housing and the adapter that will leak as well. Remove the oil filter and check inside of the housing for a large nut. Remove the nut and separate the adapter from the housing. Check the "o" ring between them and replace with new "o" ring. That's where mine is leaking and I've read a couple of others that had the same problem. The old ring started out "round" and has, over time, become flat. The new ring should start out with a flatter cross section that will seal better. Good luck! (Easy Fix, but finding the "o" ring may be a challenge. Check for the ring at the Honda Dealer as the Passport is the same basic vehicle.) Do it during the next oil change........
