Connecting a pro grade scan tool computer will tell you the DTC Code and that tells you what the problem is and how to fix it. The 'Wrench Light', properly the 'Engine Malfunction Light' is there to tell you that you have a problem and the scan tool tells you what it is?
Could be the serpentine belt rubbing on something, but is probably a bearing problem in the belt idler pulley. However, it could be the power steering pump, AC compressor clutch or generator. As the water pump is at the opposite end of the engine, it's probably not that.
Use your ignition key and stick it straight down into the slot marked shift lock, next to the shifter. That will allow you to shift it into neutral. Leave it there, remove the key from that slot and start the car. You will then be able to shift into drive, from neutral, and be on your way.
