Question about 2003 Audi TT

3 Answers

Audi TT My 2003 Audi TT has recently started bunny hopping when changing gears at low speed. If I'm stuck in traffic, and I start accelarating slowly, the revs get quite high and then i get flung with a shunt in to the next gear. Has anyone experienced anything similar or does anyone know what this might be- transmission pump?? Thanks

I was having a similar problem when I was staying idled. It kept sputteing like it was about to stall. They replaced my ignition coils and spark plugs and that seemed to fix the problem @ $540 to fix. However make sure you get your timing belt checked, if that goes your looking at a blown engine. Timing belt is @ $1400, a lot less then a new engine however. They also found that I need to replace teh valve gaskets.

has 142,000 and well maintained. Didn't begin until I drove it from Phoenix, AZ to Nashville, TN. Oh yeah, I also tried the 93% octane which gave it more pep.

I am by no means a car expert. My experience is based only on past experience not just with my 2003 audi tt but other cars as well.

What you describe may be your transmission slipping. You should have it checked out asap before you need to have the flywheel cut--I had that happen on another car and it was very expensive to have repaired.

My tt also has some brake problems which cause it to stutter when I get close to a full stop.

The best of all though is the recall of our cars for replacment of the timing belt--according to my dealer a $1700 job.

I'm having similar transmission issues, and was told both by a dealer and a cottman outlet that this model transmission cannot be repaired...only replaced at a cost of $7,000! Needless to say I am researching this further....anyone hear of this line?

I think this might be a simple case of cleaning the scavenge filter in the gearbox. I had the same problem with a 2.8 Quattro A4 (and a BMW 528) It is a quick job for you or a dealer to do, use an independant as they will remove, wash and replace the gause filter rather than charging for a new one.

Problem for Audi 2003 TT i switch on & ignition fuse No.11 blows

Does this happen when you turn the ignition to the 1st position or when you try to start the engine? If its when you try and start the engine then check the starter relay.

My audi bunny hops when starting, why when its an auto

By saying: "why when its an auto" ...do you mean an automobile or an automatic tranny? If you mean tranny...then I would say it sounds like your bands in the tranny are slipping and sometimes these are adjustable. If that's the case, I would take it to a certified tranny mechanic.

Engine has miss-fire

First check spark plugs/wires/distributor cap (tune up). Also would be good idea to use fuel injector cleane and change fuel filter and O2 sensor.
Hope that helps
Good Luck
