my 2000 s10 would click once when turning the key. tried hitting the starter no luck, then jumped it and it turned over. I replaced the battery got home turned it off and now i get one click again. Any ideas

It is not the starter, I have the same problem and the dealership said it is the starter. I replaced the starter and I am still having the problem. The problem only accrues when the outside temperature is below 63 degrees Fahrenheit. I can crank the oil-pressure up then push-start the truck, but it is not the starter. Any suggestions??

Same problem. Turn the key and only clicks. All accessories work and the battery is putting out 12.8 volts. Have had 2 new starters replaced so this issue is not a starter problem. All wire ends and connections are good. What now?

This is a result of 1 a bad starter or not enough voltage reaching the starter.
try haveing some one hold the key in the crank position and tap the starter with a hammer
about 4-5 times if it turns over then the starter needs replaced if it dose not then you need to
clean all wire connections check the battery and recheck.

If the car isn't turning over (starting) it sounds like you have a flat battery. Does it make a click click click sound?

Have to turn the starter many times to get car to turn over and start

Probably the solenoid on the starter. Is that what is clicking? Listen for it, if clicking at the starter, probably a bad starter solenoid. Some cars, not all, have a starter relay in the starting circuit. If clicking at a relay block and not from starter, check for a start relay.

Batrtery or starter?

I would say battery or connections on the battery.

1997 subaru outback make clicking noise on in reverse. Also, sometimes when the car is turned off, the car lurches a bit

does it click while reversing straight or while turning? Sounds like a stick shift. Lunging probably due to e-brake needing adjustment(if stick shift). If your car only clicks while turning in reverse you need new front axles and can probably drive that way for a while

Popping Noise ?

Does it sound like a speed induced continuous clicking, like (click, click, click, click, click) while turning and stop when you straighten your turn?
If so, this sounds like a bad CV (constant velocity) joint. These are the axles that move the car, they come from your transmission and turn the wheels. Your car is front wheel drive.
If this is not your symptom, please respond.

you have a problem with your starter solenoid. the contacts are worn out and needs to be replaced.

it is at the side of the starter. it is where the big wire from the battery is connected.
