SOURCE: Radio speakers seem to be muted. I pushed INFO button, did this cause something to mute ??

Some radios have phone buttons that mute the speakers so you can talk on the phone. If you have Onstar and no active subscription it can also mute the radio thinking you are trying to talk to Onstar.

I purchased a 2006 nissan pathfinder. The system plays but there is no sound coming out what do I do?

hi

I would check out the radio features and make sure the radio isn't on mute or the fader is turned in the wrong direction or there is another button depressed muting the sound.

if that s ok you will have to remove the radio and check to see if the speaker wires are still connected to the stereo

if they are you will have to remove the door trims and see if the wires are still connected to the speakers as well

check the radio features first

cheers

Brown mute wire for new ken wood in 2002 rodeo, does it go with illumination wire, green/red or red/green?

Hi, i'll need a bit more info to be able to give you an opinion , am i correct in assuming the "new kenwood " is a radio/cd player ? If so do you have a car phone or a hands free kit for your mobile/cell phone ? Assuming the kenwood is a radio the mute wire has to be connected to the car phone/mobile hands free kit , this is usually described in the phone installation directions , how the mute system works is when you recieve a call the signal is sent via the phone system to the radio , which is where the mute wire comes into use .If you have either of the phone set ups i've described post back with there details , make , model etc ,if you do not have this type of system and are using an ear piece then the mute funtion can't be used , i hope this is of some help to you

I have a 2002 ford explorer xlt the radio comes on & lights up but no sound comes out of the speakers.

It could be a bad connection in the back of the radio. Possibly a bad wire harness. Check the speaker wires in the back of the radio. It could be bad splicing or not hooked up right.

1996 Ford Explorer factory Radio works but when i install the aftermarket radio no sound comes out from it what do i do ..??

Does it light up? Does it have a mute button? Does it have a mute wire for in vehicle phone systems? If so, it may need to be grounded to take it out of mute, or it may need to go to 12 volts + It depends on how the circuit was designed.

If those check out, or it lights up but no muting make sure the speakers are connected to the correct wires. Also check to make sure the speakers are not grounded. Two wires should go to each speaker. you can check the condition of the speakers with a 9 volt battery touched across the leads, you will hear a pop sound. make sure those two wires for each speaker are connected to the radio correctly.

Sound quit coming from speakers. Radio fuse OK. All lights work on radio. Any ideas. Also, how is the radio removed?

depends on how new the radio is, mine is fairly new and has a wire for "call mute" out of the back. its an optional wire i never used, this wire must have wire tape or something on it to keep it from grounding out. if it does, it will mute the radio like its supposed to. to remove the radio you'll need a set of these http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/LRA_76_001ABP.cfm you can find them at almost any auto parts store

How do you turn the sound on if mute is on MMI sound system?

Depress the volume bottom or rotate the volume knob. When on a Bluetooth phone call, the speaker symbol will mute, but unmute when the call ends. Either rolling the right steering wheel scroll or the volume button on the shifter area will should unmute the radio volume.

    Radio wiring

Sounds like you have been misled as radios do not interfere with any other system in the car.Are you saying Tel mute because of phone hooked into it and muting or its just stopped putting out sound?A car radio is relatively easy to remove and check without unplugging.Pull radio out enough to check that all the plugs are plugged in and check wether an amplifier has been installed as its usualy an amp that stops the output of sound. If no amp fitted you will need to determine if you are getting a signal out from the speaker wires at the stereo plug, use spare speaker and test all the speaker output wires and if no power you may need to get it repaired/replaced.Not sure with your year/model but some radios do have a mute facility built in so check every function on your stereo very carefully .
