Engine Number Location - 1990 Diahatsu Charade

Hi,

My daughter has just bought a 1990 Diahatsu Charade. We're from Sydney Australia. However, when paying for the car the owner couldn't find the rego papers. So we have the car with a note. To change the registration to my daughter's name the RTA requires the engine number.

The mechanic who now has the car said the engine is so dirty & he doesn't know where the engine number is.

Does anyone know where the engine number is?

Many Thanks

Graham for Renee

The top right hand side (if your facing the front of the car) about 45 degrees north east of the fuel filter has a plate with various info on it if i remember right be sure to support the engine if you have to undo the engine mount between the cambelt (the daftest fecin setup ever!! :-<)
but their one of the best cars made though

You might be looking for a long time, because Daihatsu tended to only stamp the head with a serial number. If it's the 3 pot CB23 you will find the number on the front left corner flat of the head adjacent the rocker cover .
