Cadillac 2000 Deville Power Steering Pump

Mechanic changed power steering pump but there's a belt noise & steering is loose on the road & not normal. He said he got fluid on the belt & the belt needs to be changed. I checked the level of the fluid in the reservoir & it's too near the top in my opinion. Will changing the belt solve these problems.

Powesteering leak under the cold air intake. 2000 cadillac deville 32 v. no star

Not a common problem. Your leak is probably coming from the steering rack return hose to the pump, at the location you note (the pump is at the other end of the engine). It may have been damaged from road debris. You will probably have to replace the entire hose. Be careful - the smallest amount of contamination in the fluid circuit will screw up the rack, and that is big $$$ to replace.

How do i install power steering pump

If you are looking to remove the steering pump from a 2002 Cadillac DeVille, unless you are a seasoned mechanic, you should take it to a shop. This is a tedious process that requires the removal of the plenum and many hoses.

My 95 cadillac deville power steering just started acting up. Its not the power steering fluid cus i checked and its full. It will work then just go out then work again. Does it need a new pump or what?

I would try a new belt first. If the belt it is old it could be slick and slipping or loose which would cause problems with the steering pump..

I have a 1994 Cadillac DeVille and it has a very loud whining noise which seems to getting louder. I've been told it is the power steering unit and not to worry about it. Don't you think it is advisable...

Yes. I would check the fluid level and belt tightness and perhaps change the belt. Also see if you are losing fluid at the pump or steering box. The noise might be air in the lines or from low hydraulic pressure if you hear it more while turning. If the noise persists have a second opinion or just change the pump to give yourself a margin of safety.

Power steering makes noise and vibrates when turning . Is this a pump problem or something to do with magnasteer ?

  • Check the Steering fluid first. and check the hose of the steering fluid make sure there is no leak. And after you add a steering fluid and still there is a noise visit a good mechanic and advise the mechanic to check the pump.

When I go to turn the wheel in my 2000 ford ranger I hear loud squealing noises. I checked the power steering fluid and its full. What can it be?The squealing starts as soon as I turn the wheel to the left...

The power steering pump is normally connected or driven by the engine with a V-belt. A loose belt can cause squealing as soon as the power steering come under load (e.g. steering left or right while stopped).

Check the tension on the V-belt directly connected to the power steering pump. This may need replacement.

Hoep this helps.
