Question about 1995 Saab 900

Breaklights I'm driving around with permanent break lights, but if I turn the car off, they are working fine. Have checked the break switch, fuses, ground wires, bulb and sockets, everything seem to be ok. My check engine is on, could that be the problem? Can not find a mechanic yet to get the check engine light turned off, I've had a mechanic to help with the break light situation but is scratching his head also, he has followed wire by wire from front to back and can't find anything. All electrical in the car is working, but the break lights are not going on/off when driving, only when the car is turned off. Any suggestions?

1st get autozone to clear the code, (free) The only thing I can think of that goes out when car is off and on when lights turn on is the parking lights on the side, the wires could be touching in the conduit, start car and pull brake fuse out, if the lights stay on you have a short, if only the park lights stay on (double filiment) look at the lighting system, but if the brake and driving light stay on, sounds like an ecu problem.

Can't switch out of Park on my 2003 Expedition. Was driving normally and parked it. Then when I went to leave it wouldn't switch gears from Park into Drive; the lever is stuck and it is all...

U need to disconnect the brake lights switch on top of the brake pedal, and stick a wire or paper clip in between the two wires, the will allow you to take it out of park, then you need to replace the switch, if that Dosent work check you fuses, if it blows try it with the switch unplugged please rate and good luck

Breaklights don't work. The regular back light turn on, but when I press the break, the break lights don't turn on. ( I checked the bulbs and they are not burned out)

There is a plunger on the Brake Switch which is behind the Brake Pedal (arm). This can be checked and adjusted by "unscrewing" the plunger (out) so it makes better contact. Test the brake switch plunger to rule out if the brake switch is bad - and needs to be replaced.

No Turn Signals, Hazards, or Breaklights

Try replacing the flasher unit, it is usually located on or near the fuse box. This is relatively inexpensive and more likely the cause.
Hope this helps

Both brake lights out--don't know for how long

The brake lights work off a different circuit than the tail lights do, that's why there is a seperate fuse.Check the brake light switch, which is under the dash near the top of the brake pedal on the back side of it, it might be stuck in.

Breaklights not working

you need to check the brake light switch, which is located under the dash, just above the brake pedal rod.. when you step on the brake pedal there is a spring loaded switch just above it that is allowed to expand, thus making an electrical connection and energizing the brake lights.

My breaklights not working

f the lights only actuate normally when you press the brake pedal, then you may have a bad brake switch or need to readjust it (under the brake pedal you'll see it actuate when you press the pedal by hand). Look up the switch on for your year make model and get fix it info.
