It sounds as if your battery is flat. If its not. remove the black fascia around the gear box, it would reveal a slot at under the fascia in front. Put your key in it and the gear lever would move. If it doesnt then you have a major issue on hand

Most honda have a Shift Lock hole next to the shifter, looks like a key hole, put the key in the hole and the shifter should be able to release.

Only sensor i know of is located above the brake pedal, when you depress the brake the button releases.

A little black box that has a button facing toward the petal, if you press the brake down with one and and look for a little rubber part that faces upwards. if there is no rubber piece on the brake padel arm and just a 1/4" hole then you need a new rubber piece to press the button above in.

1998 Honda Accord engine rumbles and stops

rumbles?, did the RPM drop below 800 RPM? that is called idle failure
and when it does, idle can go to 400 rpm and will shake hard.
and is normal for illegal idle speeds. so post that first.
post that engine stalls
and that the RPM is 400-500 just before the stall.
then post if the fast right foot can save the stall (a key test !!!!)
if easy the ISC is sticking.
if tad hard the EGR is stuck open'
if impossible to save. then more possible (many)

I have a Honda 1998 V6. i just had a gear box change. now i am experiencing ignition key stuck problems that i never had. sometimes my key gets stuck and i simply push the stick to nuetral and park and it...

There is a recall on 1998-2002 Accords regarding defective ignition key mechanicals. Try jiggling the transmission shifter on park, while trying to extract the key, to make sure the shifter sensor (park) is allowing the key to be retrieved. For what i have read, the recall failure works the other way, it allows the key to be taken out on any gear, engine on or off !!.

2002 honda accord coupe stuck in park. did this a couple days ago but eventually went into drive. now it will not come out of park after attempting many times and turning off and restarting car.

could be the brake switch. unless the brake is pressed it wont release it from park. you can manually put it in gears, theres a little cirlce or square access hole you gotta pry up and remove the plastic piece then push down with a screw driver

1998 Accord: 1998 honda accord sedan break lights stay on...

In all probability, the brake switch got stuck in the closed position. One way to test it is by trying to move the shift lever from Park to Neutral without depressing the brake. If you can do this, then the switch is damaged. It is very simple and inexpensive to replace. It is located a few inches above the brake pedal rubber pad.

Is it on a hill? If so have someone rock it up hill as you try to take it out of park with the key on and engine off.
