Check whether the groundings to the body and engine are good. Try to install good grounding cables connected directly from the battery to the various body and engine areas. It is not advisable to replace alternator with higher amperage. Please stick to the original specification if new alternator is needed.

Easy way to see if its the battery or the alternator, get your car started, while its running, remove the positive off the battery. if the car continues to run the alternator is fine and the battery is the problem, if the car shuts off when the positive is removed, the alternater isnt performing.

Alternater not charging on my jeep

this can be fixed by removing alternator and fixing two things(which can be broken in usefull life of unit)

1-brushes inside (since it is a brushed motor anyway)
2-regulator circuit or its elements. (there is a capacitor on it, it may fail)

if those are gone broken it can't charge or it cant supply correct voltage to battery.

there is no other alternative but to replace the whole unit either with new or a reconditioned unit. it comes in one set for both sides and driven by steel cables engaged to the electric motor.

It is a sign slippage. Flush and replace the ATF and check for any improvement. Also check the alternator whether charging correctly.

Starter Replacement in a "96" 960

Disconnect the battery and wires going to the starter. If air charge tube is in the way you can remove it. I am not looking at a S-70 turbo right now but sure that I have never had to remove intake to R&R a starter. There might be a bracket on the passenger side of starter with a 12mm bolt into the front of the engine and two 10mm nuts onto the starter. Remove two 13mm stud bolts that hold starter in place and slide out. New starter goes in reverse order.
