Speedometer My speedometer works about 50 % of the time. I took the speedometer gauge off to check the connection and it is still not working. What else could be the problem?

The circuit board on the back of the cluster often become loose. you can fix this by either resoldering the connections of getting another cluster if not new then a junk yard one. when your cluster stops working can you push on it and make it work again or smack the dash. if so resolder the board or have a junk yard one. i myself went to a junkyard and got one i had to beat up my dash to make it start working again.

Well we replaced fuses and every time you use the blinker the fuse would blow. We took it for a drive Used the signal we heard a pop in the steering column. Could there be a short in the steering...

it is possible to get a short in the blinker assembly on the column. dont know what year or vehicle you are asking about but, the speedometer could be cable and yes that can be fixed, it could be electrical, this would need to be diagnosed before you replace cluster as it could be the speed sensor on trans, faulty connections, bad speed gear. or bad motor on cluster.

Speedometer, fuel gauge, not working

sounds like to me that your instrument cluster is bad this will cause the gages not to work, i had one just like it only my rpm and mileage didnt work i replaced the cluster and thats all it took. You can get one at a junkyard for around 50 dollars and that should hopefully fix your problem.

Tac dont work. tranmissionwant shift unless you let off of gas

The connector on the back of the gauge cluster isn't making a good connection. If the speed senser is bad the speedometer won't work either or the fuse the speedometer won't work but if the speedometer does work the trans controller or the shift switch ( park neuurtal drive ) could bemaking abad connection or be full of tans fluild or water (frozen?) The tach not working may indicate a fuse or connection problem to the cluster ( speedometer gauge unit and the computer doesn't know how fast the motor is going) The check engine light should be on in this case and checking for codes and following the repair recomedations for them should find the problem

My 92 honda civic speedometer works only half the time

check the connection from speedometer to transaxle. Often this becomes loose, especially the transaxle side. Also 92 was a first year model and have heard many wacky problems.

Speedometer Gauge Slipping - Inaccurate Reading

I had a car that did this to me. It started happening last year so I took it in and they were baffled. Lesson learned never take a car to a big chain store for a difficult diagnosis. They just told me to let my car warm up for 5 minutes and it would be fine. If I let it warm up it was good. This winter it started doing it again but it would do it all the time even after I let it warm up. I never bothered bringing it in again because it was dieing. If you are truly concerned take it into a mechanic ( a good one) and have them diagnose it. Your spedometer cable could just be wearing out.

Speedometer works sporadically

It sounds as if liquid got into the instrument cluster and the speedometer gauge might have some rust on the spring. Check to see if any other gauge is sticking sometimes.

1991 Dodge Daytona Speedometer and Odometer not working.

I had the same problem with my 90 daytona. The tach and the speedometer would work intermitantly. I took the whole gauge cluster out, and heated all the soldering with a solder gun to reflow the connections. It seems that this is a common problem with the connections cracking. You may not be able to see the cracks in the solder.
