My 2007 Chevy Malibu wont crank no lights come on but their is a clicking coming from the back of the car even when the key is out of the ignition

The clicking sound you're hearing from the back of your 2007 Chevy Malibu could be due to a few different things. Here are a few possibilities:
  1. Dead battery: If the battery is dead or weak, you might hear a clicking sound when you try to start the engine. You can check the battery by trying to jump-start the car or by using a voltmeter to measure the voltage.
  2. Starter issue: If the clicking sound is coming from the starter, it could mean the starter solenoid is failing or the starter motor is damaged. A faulty starter can cause a clicking sound but no engine cranking.
  3. Relay issue: A relay is an electrical component that switches power to various systems in the vehicle. If a relay is faulty, you might hear a clicking sound when you turn the key, but no lights will come on.
  4. Alternator issue: If the alternator is failing, it may cause the battery to drain, which can lead to a clicking sound but no engine cranking.
If you're unable to diagnose the issue yourself, I recommend having a professional mechanic take a look. They can perform a thorough inspection to determine the cause of the problem and make the necessary repairs

2000 Jaguar SType New battery is completely dead after three days, starter and alternator are both good, and we have disconnected radio believing it might be a drain, what about fuses?

Hello
We had a similar situation and we found out that the battery was the cause , even though it was new.

Try with another battery that you know is good from another car, if still having a problem , check the starter for drainage

I have a 2003 ford focus wagon second hand. My battery died out and I thought the alternator was the problem. Brought my car to an alternator repair shop and they said the alternator is still good. I ended...

Lead acid batteries don't like being discharged flat, and it could now be damaged and unable to hold a charge. It does sound as though the voltage regulator part of the alternator is allowing discharge to ground when it should not. You would seem to have a good warranty claim on the battery given they did check the alternator and pronounce it OK.

2000 chevy malibu ...car won't start. I have a two month old battery. When the car is off, after I tried to start it, I can still hear a buzzing noise in the dash behind the stereo. The serpintine, drive...

check the voltage to battery. battery voltage at battery should be be at least 12.6 or higher with car off. when running at battery should be at least 14.1 to 14.7, try this. get a jump start, then while running disconnect the negative cable to battery. car chould still run. but if it quits when disconnecting negative cable then you have an alternator problem. or the belt.

Hello Vicky...
Your Malibu has what is known as a parasitic drain...It could be a stuck relay, trunk light staying on, or a direct short circuit.Something in the electrical circuit is not turning off when then ignition switch is turned off..
You will need to perform a parasitic draw test to determine the cause and correct the problem to keep the battery from draining,

Good luck...i hope this helps

When was the alternator replaced? was it a remanufactured alternator? This is common on GM trucks, fluctuating voltage is caused by a faulty alternator voltage regulator. Have the alternator tested, strong possiblityits defective!!Hopefully this helps!!

2008 Chevy Malibu - battery light is on, but the car has only 36K

check voltage at battery with car off, should read 13.0 volts or a hair higher. with it running at battery there should be at least 14.2 volts, if not alternator is bad or the wiring is. the voltage regulator is built into the alternator now days. it is much cheaper to have it rebuilt then buying new. it is almost new after rebuild!!

I have a 2000 chevy malibu, battery light came on

check your serpentine belt it sounds like it may have stretched or broken. Without the belt working properly your car will overheat due to the waterpump not activating and neither will the power steering or alternator
