Golf TDI 1998 problem with cold start

Hi
my golf is very hard to start in the morning recently. . when hot it is one crank and it goes, but cold start needs several cranking up. In the mornings or after few hours when the engine is cold i have noticed an air bubble as long as 3/4 inch in the see through pipe diesel pipe running between the fuel filter campartment and the engine. Is this normal. i havent changed the glow plugs yet .Any ideas please.?

Take your vechile to a auto parts stor ex: NAPA, and have them check your battery. You may have a dead cell in the battery. In winter you need "COLD CRANKING AMPS". You may need a new one

My vw citi golf 1.6 cranks but wont start in the morning unless you push start it and it only does that in the mornings, what might be the problem?

Cold cranking uses most of the voltage available in the battery and if the battery is not up the job (failing cell) there is not enough power left for the ignition system. Push starting allows the extra power for the ignition system Have a load test done on the battery.

1998 VW Golf Tdi idle problem, it starts fine wean cold but as soon is hot does start up to 1100 revs for about 2 minutes.

sounds like a failing o2 sensor. or MAF sensor. but it could also be a blocked egr valve, its common on the tdi over time. sometimes don't even register as a fault on ecu codes.
