You should hear the fuel pump run momentarily when the key is in the Run position. Ensure the engine has a good spark by removing one of spark plug boots. Stick a phillips screwdriver in the boot, and hold the handle of the screwdriver, and allow the shaft near ground. (motor works best) Have someone crank the engine and look for a good blue spark arch from the screwdriver and engine. If your getting good spark, then check the fuel pressure on the fuel injection rail.
Not sure that it's my same problem but I found that my 2002 had a chip/resistor in the key. We measured the resistance and then went under the dash locating the red(hot) wire to the ignition switch, then cut it and built a resistor to the specs of they key and inserted it into the starter wire. Simply put, you are making the starter sense the resistance and start the car when the key is turned. Hope that helped. We searched it through google and it told us how to build the resistor. There was also a spec and directions to determine the resistance of the key.
So what do you have for voltage at the battery?
Sounds like the alternator went bad. There should be around 14 volts at the battery with the engine running. Anything less and the alternator would be the first thing I suspected.
Jump the vehicle, if it starts then the problem is a dead cell in the battery if it doesn't there is a problem in the vehicle security system. If you have an after market alarm installed you can disconnect the power wire to that alarm and that will disable the starter kill switch and allow the vehicle to start.
check the key I have 1992 camaro rs I took it some where and parked it came out and went to start it and it didnt do anything key would turn over no sound no lights nothing. My key had that anti left chip pretty exspensive to replace key needs to entergrated into the comupter. Just a thought.
Hello I think there might be a security setting on the camaro ill check into it if you give me the specs like yr and engine size but first i would go put the key in the drivers door lock and cycle the key to lock and unlock 3 or 4 times and see if that resets the security if it does please give me a good rating if it don't just give me the info i asked for and ill find you a answer ...
