Im not sure which tranny you have, but i would check to see if the throttle valve cable is stretched or needs adjusting.( if applicable) or check the modulator valve and vacuum supply line to the valve...Good Luck...

My 2001 cadillac catera has unwanted downshifting when not on level roads

Yep that\'s what auto trans do. it tries to do engine braking, just don\'t accelerate at all. When you go down hill in a manual gearbox, you would also have to downshift to let the engine do the braking.

Downshift and gets stuck in first gear

TCC switch located in the trans axle is more than likely the culprit and needs to be replaced. take this one to a well known transmission shop. shouldn't run you more than a couple hundred dollars.

Transmission

It is most likely that one of the transmission accumulators has failed, usually due to a broken spring in it. These are rather like little hydraulic shock absorbers which cushion the ratio changes in the trans. You would be best taking it to a trans shop. Here is a photo of accumulators lined up with their locations in a typical trans

I want to see a picture or a diagram of where the vacuum line for reverse is on a 2001 2500 Chevrolet silverado

there is no vacuum line for reverse. the transmission uses fluid and silanoids inside for reverse. if reverse isn't working the low/reverse band is blown. you can test it by driving and manually downshifting into 1 and if it downshifts through all gears but wont downshift into 1st (feel the truck slowing down from engine braking) then your band is broken. time for a trans rebuld

2005 ford five hundred limited 2wd 6spd trans 139k miles. Recently replaced mounts thinking that would stop the trans from downshifting hard at stopping. But since the replacement the rpm will not go over...

What you might try is changing the Trans fluid and putting in a new Trans filter or cleaning the filter if it is not disposable. If this does not help before replacing parts on the Trans ask if your Model has a Software fix.

Many of the newer vehicles have computer programming to control the Trans behavior. Since changing the mounts made a difference, the old parts were obviously worn. Now you need to smooth out the shift points.

If you want to try 1 cheap part, get a TPS (throttle position sensor) which is on the Airhorn. Its function is to set fuel mix and timing advance and to communicate that to the Trans. If the Trans does not know how far the throttle is open, I can see it would not know when to shiift or downshift.

'93 corolla,4 spd.auto trans.speedometer reads10 mph slow and the transmission shifts real fast. Its in third gear bythe time u hit 30 mph. Also wont downshift at this point either.

well what you want to do is change the trans control solenoid or the trans modulator.i know this car has a trans modulator but im not sure that it has a trans solenoid.either way it's a lot cheaper than changing the trans.hope this info helps. take care and good luck, manny

Check the fluid! Had similar problem, $0.87 in fluid fixed it.

Auto trans will not downshift automaticly

Educated guess: Sounds like a shift solenoid or a speed sensor gone bad. Search a Ram truck owner forum (start witha  Google search) to see if it is a common problem.

300m special Code P0700

This is what sets the code.

Engine started, engine running, and the PCM received a message over the CCD bus from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) that it had detected a problem and set a trouble code in memory. This code sets in 1 Trip(s).
The presence of this code means the TCM detected a problem. TCM related sensor is damaged or has failed.

After everything you have done I would recommend taking it to a transmission shop, I'm sure they have seen this on Chryslers. and know what the common problems are.
