Clutch cable ---- I think!

While I was changing gear my clutch pedal suddenly went to the floor and stayed there ----- my guess is that the cable snapped and I will try replace it tomorrow. Is this complicated to do? Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated.

When I push the clutch pedal to the floor it sticks but not when I press it down half to three quarters down. Do you think it is the clutch cable?

98 golf clutch pedal went to the floor. Car would not engage any gear. Fixed cable so pedal now feels good but still won't engage I can move gear lever any where, release pedal but nothing happens.

What do you mean when you say you fixed the cable. It sounds like the cable broke and you replaced it. Is that correct. If so, did you adjust the free play in the clutch pedal to the manufacturers specification. If you have not done this correctly the clutch will either not disengage, or no engage properly. From your description it appears as though there is n free play and hence the clutch is staying disengaged even when you release the clutch pedal. If this is the case, then try lengthening the cable until the clutch pedal moves with say 25 mm of free movement before anything happens, and try again.

Clutch pedal sitting on floor/no return.

It may be the clutch assy. but before I did that I would check the cable out as it seems strange the pedal would stay on the floor even if the clutch went out. There should be a return spring on the pedal.

2001 Camry 5 speed. It starts but it will not move. I can change gears without pushing in clutch. One mechanic said it was clutch and a different one said transmission is out. Which is it?

The clutch is not transferring power to the gearbox, which then is not turning, so that you can select gears without the clutch.Possibilities are
- clutch assembly has failed, possibly by the splined driven plate hub coming adrift
- clutch driven plate has become very worn and has lost contact
- slave cylinder has stuck through corrosion (assuming a hydraulic clutch) and is holding out the clutch independent of the pedal. This can be determined by watching it while someone depresses and raises the pedal.

I think it is unlikely the transmission input shaft has fractured.

How do you adjust the clutch on a 2000 golf se tdi 1.9

Renew the clutch cable its a auto adjust mechanism and the cable comes with a plastic tie around the middle bit so fit the cable and then and only then remove the tie ,this is a difficult job and not easy for a weekend mechanic so be warned

My son was driving his 1997 Nissan Sentra to work. As he was shifting he heard a pop and the clutch pedal went to the floor. You can pull the pedal out, and it will stay out. If you push it will stay

Check to see if the cable on the gearbox moves and check the pedal under the dash to see if any cable is attached to the pedal still, it will be and easy find, good luck

WHILE SHIFTING GEARS INTO 5TH GEAR THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND FELT LIKE THE CABLE MAY HAVE BROKE. THE GEARS WOULDNT SHIFT WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING

IF you have a cable actuated clutch then replace the cable complete. The gears will not change because there will be load on the teeth while the engine is running making changing very hard.

When I was at a stop light, I went to put it in first gear when the light turned green. When I did, the clutch pedal just went straight to the floor, and stayed there. It doesn't seem to be the clutch...

The thrust bearing could have collapsed or the Fingers on the clutch plate have gone.

If when you press down on the clutch the cable moves the arm on the clutch housing then it is either of the above
