"service ride control" problem with '96 cadillac deville! loud clicking nose and smoke from exhaust!

We have been getting ALOT of rain the past couple days due to hurricane Ike and all the roads in our neighborhood have been flooding. Yesterday while trying to get home the only road to our house and, at least, a 3ft puddle that we did not see at night. We were driving about 45 mph, road was fine then all of a sudden came the puddle and my cadillac crashed into it. I braked suddenly because i started swerving. Trying to drive through the puddle my car stalled out. I turned it back on and got out of the puddle, but alot of smoke was coming from my exhaust and under the hood. I turned it off and let it sit for a minute. After turning it back it made a loud clicking sound all the way home with smoke still coming from the exhaust, and is doing the same today. "service ride control" light came on. I tried googling this, but no answers are there with the same problem i have. Does anyone have any idea on whats going on, what to look for, and how to fix it? It is a '96 cadillac deville and was riding just fine before this. just went through and checked the service codes. I got PC0133, PC0135, PC1133, and AC1347 and, oddly, when it went to scan codes for the PCM, it just said PSM? like it couldnt even detect it. Does anyone know what these codes mean, and why it would question after PSM?

The PCO 133 I believe is ABS issue. One of the sensors may have been ruined or disconnected after water trip. PCO135 i suspect is HVAC, or heating/cooling data. Some chip or part may have gotten wet. Does the air and/or heat still work?
The AC code is air conditioning related. Is there the word "history" or "current" next to any of the codes? You may have old codes. There are a couple of ways to reset the codes. But i'm not sure if that is necessary for your car. I suspect you may have to take the car to a dealer/mechanic; which might not be a bad idea considering you just went through a gaping 3 ft puddle.
hope this helps

Starter nose on my 96 DeVille Northstar 4.6 broke the other day I replaced it started plenty of times no problems when started last night same problem but the nose of the starter for no reason any ideas...

I don't know for sure on yours , you should go to a Cadillac dealer an talk to there parts guy . I worked at a Chevy Dealership an then a Cadillac , Pontiac , GMC dealership . There were shims used on some GM products that keep the nose away from the flywheel or flex plate so this didn't happen !

The engine 4.6 gets alot of smog,I think, the problem maybe wil be the regulator presure of fuel pump. Because was liquing gasoline throw the mofles . Do you agree? It ocurres about one minute after I...

If the smoke is white, it is caused from burning oil. It it was gas it would be black. If the smoke is coming from the exhaust pipe then the oil is leaking into the combustion chamber of the engine. If it is coming from under the hood then there is an external leak that is getting on the exhaust system and burning off.

Car sway alot when going down the expressway. Service ride controll light is on. Hard to hold steady on the highway, feel like wind is blowing the car and making it sway.

jimmiech1, nobody is really getting what your saying are they. They're getting hung up on the "wind" part. The wind or natural conditions have nothing to do with it. I'm trying to find out the exact same problem with my Deville. I know it has something to do with the computer on the air suspension or the struts or something. If the car sits real low, it's def the air ride.

What does it mean when the dashboard reads gear indicator fault, service ride control and change oil soon even after i just got it changed along with service vehicle thats what keeps popping up on my dash...

Off the top of my head the following may be the case for your 1995 Cadillac Deville based on my 1997 Cadillac Deville knowledge:

gear indicator fault- has to do with the shift lever sensor down on the column by the feet,

service ride control- has to do with the air ride shocks in the back or the compressor in the front or the ride control height,

change oil soon- has to do with not resetting the % oil life (just press reset button for a few seconds when the oil % life is displayed)

Hope this helps you out.

I guess the right word is . Service ride control.
Service ride control. come because, Is there a computer for all the suspension and esteering.
Level sensor if the car use air suspension.
Or electronic shocks. any of those are giving the message.
You need to do a computer diagnostic. On a repair shop.
