Question about 1996 Cadillac DeVille
We have been getting ALOT of rain the past couple days due to hurricane Ike and all the roads in our neighborhood have been flooding. Yesterday while trying to get home the only road to our house and, at least, a 3ft puddle that we did not see at night. We were driving about 45 mph, road was fine then all of a sudden came the puddle and my cadillac crashed into it. I braked suddenly because i started swerving. Trying to drive through the puddle my car stalled out. I turned it back on and got out of the puddle, but alot of smoke was coming from my exhaust and under the hood. I turned it off and let it sit for a minute. After turning it back it made a loud clicking sound all the way home with smoke still coming from the exhaust, and is doing the same today. "service ride control" light came on. I tried googling this, but no answers are there with the same problem i have. Does anyone have any idea on whats going on, what to look for, and how to fix it? It is a '96 cadillac deville and was riding just fine before this. just went through and checked the service codes. I got PC0133, PC0135, PC1133, and AC1347 and, oddly, when it went to scan codes for the PCM, it just said PSM? like it couldnt even detect it. Does anyone know what these codes mean, and why it would question after PSM?
The PCO 133 I believe is ABS issue. One of the sensors may have been ruined or disconnected after water trip.
PCO135 i suspect is HVAC, or heating/cooling data. Some chip or part may have gotten wet. Does the air and/or heat still work?
The AC code is air conditioning related. Is there the word "history" or "current" next to any of the codes? You may have old codes. There are a couple of ways to reset the codes. But i'm not sure if that is necessary for your car. I suspect you may have to take the car to a dealer/mechanic; which might not be a bad idea considering you just went through a gaping 3 ft puddle.
hope this helps
