I have 2003 BMW X5. The remote will not unlock the car but it will "pop" the trunk lid. I believe there is general module and central locking module that could be the problem. A mechanic dianosed it as the general module but i purchased the module but the pin connectors dont match. What the problem?

- I have the same problem with my 2003 BMW X5, battery died and after the car was jumped the central locking system, interior light, remote key entry, and alarm stop working, The key does open the back door but nothing else. I tried to reset the key fob, but that did not work.Is the a BMW problem or does anyone have a fix for it.- Guest

- I am experiencing the exact same issue in my 2002 530i, the remote does not unlock the doors, but does unlock the trunk lock.I have been looking into this issue and have seen some interesting posts on bimmerfest stating that someone with this same issue had found a dealer tech who ran a diagnosis on the BCM (Body Control Module) and it had somehow been changed to 'Shipping mode' the dealership had to reprogram the BCM and it subsequently fixed all the locking issues.
Not sure how much the stealership will charge to reprogram the BCM for you, the tech rate is usually around 150.00/hour (US) saw the BCM's used on eBay for about 100.00. - bnabours

- i have the same as all above, my boot will open but the interior lights dont work, the doors wont open the central locking interior button wont work and the alarm is not activated. i had previously had a alarm problem if the sun came out the alarm would go off.- GuestDec 08, 2008

I have a 2003 BMW 530i and the doors will not lock/unlock using the button on the keyless entry remote or using the central locking button inside the car. The keyless remote will open the trunk. Interior lights do not come on when doors are open, neither does the security warning light. I've check the fuses and they all appear to be good. Interior map and courtesy mirror lights all work as well. I would love any help possible with this one.

I have a 2004 x5 with a central locking problem. The doors will not lock using the button inside the x5. The key won't work either except for open the back hatch. The interior lights are not working either. Any solutions for these problems would be appreciated. I believe there all related....

'03 X5 central locking failure. locks will only operate by manually inserting key in driver's door. no lock in passenger side door. Interior lights do not come on when doors are open, neither does the security warning light.
Interior switch is not the problem. Replaced it with one from 01 X5, same problem.
'01 fan blower was defective, had it fixed. Now same trouble with 03 fan blower.
