Rain water is getting in, through my trunk I believe, and soaking my back seat.

its along way from the trunk to the back seat. check the back window, and the doors, get a water hose and have someone inside check it for a leak. Water in the trunk is usually caused by bad seals at the tail lights. But water in the trunk usually stays in the trunk and spare tire area. If the car has been wrecked, then who knows.

No owners manual. How do I get to the spare tire? Can't tell if I'm supposed to go through the floor in the back or under the car.

The spare tire in a 1996 Grand Cherokee is supposed to be bolted on the inside the rear trunk area, on the drivers side, not underneath the Jeep as you think. The only thing under there taking up all the space is the gas tank. If it's not in the back, then you don't have one. The jack and tire iron are located under the rear seats.

I have a brand new 2011 Nissan Sentra 2.0S. Found water in the wheel well of spare tire in trunk. Nissan tested it for leak and of course found nothing. Happened on 2 ocassions. Suspect undercarriage car...

probablly the result of insufficiently sealed body seams.empty trunk, sprinkle baby powder everywhere use vehicle or get it washed and look for trails in powder ...follow back to source.a little messy but very definitive!

I have a 2002 Dodge Neon, 4 cyl, automatic. Water is leaking into the trunk and under back passenger seats. Is this only from tail lights as suggested online?

I would check the trunk seal first.

1. Thoroughly clean the seal and the surface it touches with windex.

2. Apply a semi thin layer of grease to the seal, you don't want alot just enough to transfer to the other surface when you close the trunk.

3. Close trunk completely and then reopen and examine the grease pattern on the surface it touches.

If there is a break or a messy spot (smear) in the pattern that is where the water might be leaking on from.

Water is leaking in my car. when pressure is applied to the back seat, water comes out. water collecting in compartment in trunk and spare tire storage

put a hose on it and check for leaks ,could be the rear screen or the boot lid seal.Quick solution is to drill a hole or two in boot spare wheel area to let the water out

I have a 2005 Dodge neon that seems to retain water in trunk area where spare tire is located. why is this?

I can tell you why....because it does this in my stratus!!!!

The trunk lid hinges are letting water into your trunk. All the water pools up in and under the spare, the trunk carpet is wet.....more than likely the driver's side of the trunk....pull that trunk carpet back from where that trunk hinge is mounted to the body, reach under there and feel all the water dripping in!

The fix? Unbolt those hinges and put silicone sealant around those bolts and mounts.....that'll take care of that crummy leak.....DODGES!!!!!

I have a 1998 Nissan Altima. Lately, some animal has ripped holes into the fabric back seat and gotten into the car. I think it must be coming in under the car but I don't know how. How can I stop this...

Be careful... the rodent may be "nesting" in the trunk (seriously).

One access hole (supposed to be plugged) is in the trunk, under the spare tire. Look in the lowest part of the trunk, there is a hole with maybe the cover loose. The hole is approximately the size of a dollar bill folded in half. It is a "drain" plug if the trunk gets water in it.

If not there, then it may be under the back seat ... again, use caution when you remove the back seat.

Look for signs of its nest. Use a rodent repellent, not a poison... you don't want it to die in an inaccessible place in your car. It will be a real stinkeroooo.

Hope this helps!

Water in the trunk where the spare tire is...

It's most likely the weather stripping along the top of your trunk, where the hinges are. There is probably a bad contact, or missing the weather stripping.

pour a small amount of water down the back of the car, give it some time and then take a look inside maybe you will see where it's dripping from. if you can, fold your seats down and sit inside the car with a flashlight while someone else empties a glass of water approx. on your back window, roof of car etc.

Hope this helps :)

Water in spare tire compartment of trunk after heavy rain.

U need to carefully check the seams of the sheetmetal for any sign of water or dirt from the road, there is no common leak on these cars, in fact they seldom leak anywhere, the water is most likely splash up from the road, unless u left something out like it was sitting when this water accumulated. Let me know that info.

Hi

Im not quite shure of the location from your description, But if there is a electric motor in the trunk it operate's the convertable roof and is always a good idea to keep your electric's dry.
