I have also had this happen to me, but luckily it only happened once as I was driving through town, it would go to Empty to full and back to empty again...but it has never done it again.

I have a pontiac 2002 aztec and the fuel gauge goes up and down no matter how much gas is n it.

Replace your fuel sending unit, This is located in your fuel tank. And tell your cars computer how much fuel you have, You will most likely have to drop your fuel tank. Best of luck to you.

Gas gage goes from 1/4 tank to past full when driving down the road. How do I fix this

This sounds like a grounded wire, look at all wires under the vehicle going to the fuel tank.

@hotmail.com@hi...i have 2002 pontiac montana mini-van...i filled up the tank above the full mark...got in ...started it up...it went up to full...then dropped down to empty and low fuel light stays...

It sounds like the fuel tank sending unit is bad. You can try pouring a can of BGK44 into the tank to see if it will clean up some of the deposits that can actually foul the sending unit. If that doesn't work the unit will have to be replaced.

I have a 2002 grand prix gt my gas gage goes from full to emty sometimes it goes 3/4 sometimes 1/4 do u no what the problem is

sounds like you need new fuel pump. fuel pump located in gas tank. before you go buy a new fuel pump first push up and down on trunk of car real hard to try to dislodge the little armature inside of tank. this little armature is what sends the signal to the gauge telling you the quantity. push up and down on truck to try to dislodge small signal armature then check your quantity. try this when you are having the problem and i am willing to bet the little armature is stuck. the only way to fix is to buy a new pump.
