Question about 1998 Isuzu Rodeo

2 Answers

Wont crank replaced battery, same problem. Ign fuse shows to be ok. Hooked up to charger for quick start with new battery, appears that little to none electricity getting to starter, Ligts, radio, etc, wont work. Could it be a bad starter or Alternator or something different altogether

You need to find out id your ign switch is sending 12v electrical to the starter.. There ia large post with the positive battery cable attached to it and a small post which is the wire from the ign switch connects.. run a wire from a postive source like the battery cable to the small post.. if the engine cranks you will know the starter is good and its not getting a 12 single from the ign switch. Post a comment and let us know what you find.

99 cougar replaced steering column with key car still wont crank

Check battery voltage.should have a little more than 12 volts DC.then turn ign.switch on check fuses with test light with them in place.pull the one out for ign. Ohm it out across should read 0.00on electrical meter.if it is good look for stater fuse.follow same.if it is good could have bad starter.make sure you turn key off when removing fuses.

Ran oil out in 2005 chevy equinox. it stalled and died while i was driving it. had it towed home. it would crank over, but wouldn't start. finally battery went dead. jumped it, but idiot on the other...

if you own a charger, connect it to your battery and charge to full.. then disconnect the negative with the key on..this kills the entire car computer and all..shut the key off and reconnect the negative cable tight..turn the key to the on position DO NOT TRY TO START.. let all the dash indicators go out first..then try to start..otherwise all the codes held in the computer need erased..may require the help of an auto electric shop..or parts store..

New plugs, new dist cap,new coil new ign. control module new fuel filter ,wont start

Fuel system checked? If OK, did you "reset" the ECC also called the ECM or PCM which is the computer of the vehicle? Do it by unhooking "both" battery cables, waiting 15 minutes, rehook then try to start and see if this helps. If not you may have to start on the ground floor by checking all fuses, crank and cam sensors, ICM, etc.

My 99 Gmc jimmy will not start. the fuel pump is good the fuel filter is not clogged, i replaced the neutral safety switch, plugged in my code reader no codes, i believe it is the starter or the ignition...

Does it crank or not? If no crank then look at the starter or ignition switch. If crank but no start then look at the ignition system. Check for spark at the plugs and also check the fuel pressure. If there is spark try spraying a little starting fluid into the intake. See if it starts and stays running. If it stays running reply back and I will explain why.

Doesn't start, cranks but nothing happen, is not fuel pump, we check that all ready

Next I would check your IGN fuse or ignition fuse might be bad it is the fuse box toward front left engine which should say 80A main once you pop top off it should have labeling of each fuse it is a 30A fuse the metal wire should not be broken inside fuse.

Another quick thing to check see if your battery is charged lights should come on and radio when you turn key to second position and the dash board light indicator come on if this doesn't work it could be your alternator or a new battery, batteries only have a life span of around 5 years if you get a decent one.

The only other quick check would be your timing belt which is right behind your fan in the front of the motor just check for tears or looseness make sure battery isn't hooked up when doing this.

The other could be ignition coils or the leads to your spark plugs which is a little labor intensive and alot has to be taken off to check it I would get a mechanic to look at it if the other quick checks don't work.

good luck let me know what happens

Why wont my 2000 sunfire start?

starter relay, ignition switch, park switch.need to use a volt meter and start at the starter, see if you have at least 12 volts.if there is have the battery tested.does your head lights come on?next no voltage, go to the fuse box under the hood and check for (2) 12 volt powers with the key on and a good ground.if ok replace the relay.next move the trans shifter to neutral with foot on brake and try and start if it starts you need park switch.if not next is the ign.switch to test, you will need to locate the starter wire and check for voltage when starting if none replace the ign.switch hope this helped.also the alternator has nothing to do with the cranking of the engine on this car.
