Question about 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Power door locks do not work at all lights flash when remote is used to unlock doors. automatic lock feature does not work Once manually unlocked, sliding side doors work ok. tail gate can be used to opens and closes using remote or inside contols.

    I removed he BCN #1 fuse and this didn't help. When I disconnected the battery, the locks started working correctly and, worked for 3 days. I'm back to using the key.



    When the problem first occurred, I had never used the key to unlock the doors and forgotten that it even existed; I had to crawl through the tailgate to unlock the doors manually.

The reason the locks dont work more then likely there is a code stored in the bcm for a lock output circuit normally caused by one if not both of the sliding door acuators. even if you change the acuators the locks still will not work until the code is cleared.

Principles of Operation
Power Locks
The SJB controls the power lock/unlock feature of all of the vehicle doors, including the liftgate, to lock or unlock based on the input received from the door lock control switch, the keyless entry keypad or the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter. Power locking and unlocking of the doors function independently of the key position, vehicle speed or transmission position. The smart junction box (SJB) activates internal relays to supply the correct voltage and grounds for the door lock actuators.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Lock/Unlock Control - Unlock
The RKE transmitter feature provides lock/unlock functions independently of key position, vehicle speed, or transmission position. The RKE transmitter feature provides a 2-step process for unlocking the doors. Upon receipt of the first request for unlocking the doors, the RKE control feature requests the SJB to unlock the driver door only. If another unlock request is received within 3 seconds of the first, the RKE transmitter feature requests the SJB to unlock all the doors. This feature can be changed to global unlock, so that all the doors unlock on the first press of the unlock button. To toggle between the 2-step unlock and the global unlock press the lock and the unlock button on the RKE transmitter at the same time and hold the buttons for 4 seconds. The turn signal lamps flash to confirm that the feature has been toggled.
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Lock/Unlock Control - Lock
The RKE transmitter feature requests that all the doors be locked when the lock button is pressed. On any press of the lock button with all doors closed, the SJB provides 1 flash of the parking lamps. If any door is ajar, no flash occurs. As soon as the last door is closed, the SJB provides the flash of the parking lamps. If 2 presses of the lock button are received within 3 seconds, the horn chirps once, and the parking lamps flash twice to indicate that all the doors are closed and locked. If any door is ajar when the second lock request is received within 3 seconds of the first, the RKE transmitter feature requests the SJB chirp the horn twice without flashing the parking lamps to indicate it locked all the doors but 1 or more doors are ajar. When the key is in the ON or START position, the parking lamp flashes and horn chirp confirmations do not occur.

All doors lock automatically when the vehicle speed reaches 15 MPH (24 km/h).
? All doors unlock automatically when the ignition is placed in the OFF position.
The automatic unlock function can be deactivated or activated. To deactivate or activate the automatic door unlock system, perform the following procedure: 1. Close all doors.
2. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
Within 20 seconds of performing Step 2, push and hold the power door lock switch to the position (UNLOCK) for more
than 5 seconds.
4. When activated, the hazard indicator will flash twice. When deactivated, the hazard indicator will flash once.
5. The ignition switch must be placed in the OFF and ON position again between each setting change.
When the automatic door unlock system is deactivated, the doors do not unlock when the ignition switch is placed in the OFF position. To unlock the door manually, use the inside lock knob or the power door lock switch (driver's or front passenger's side).

The power windows an power locks are controlled by a module , DDM - driver door module . As far as the locks locking when you put the vehicle into reverse an unlocking when you put the vehicle into park , that's how there are suppose to work , automatic lock an unlock feature . When you put the vehicle into any gear from park the locks should lock . Did she hit window lockout function ?

The power door lock system consists of the following components:
• The driver door module (DDM)
• The passenger door module (PDM)
• The body control module (BCM)
• The driver information center (DIC)
• The rear door lock switch
• The door lock relay
• The door unlock relay
• The liftgate lock relay--utility vehicles with liftgate only
• The reversible door lock actuators in each of the doors and liftgate
• LOCKS 20A fuse (rear lock/unlock relay supply voltage)
• ECC 10A fuse (liftgate lock relay supply voltage .

Programmable Automatic Door Locks
The automatic door lock feature can be programmed to control the door lock system. The automatic door lock feature is factory programmed to have all doors lock and unlock. For detailed instructions on programming the automatic door locks, refer to Vehicle Personalization in Personalization.
When the automatic door lock feature is programmed to control the door lock system, the driver door module (DDM), passenger door module (PDM) and body control module (BCM) will lock the vehicle doors if the following inputs are true:
• Ignition 1 input is active.
• All door jamb switch inputs are inactive.
• Cargo door or liftgate/liftglass ajar inputs are inactive.
• Transmission is shifted out of park.
This automatic door lock function will only occur once per ignition cycle unless, a door jamb switch input changes state to active and back to inactive. Then the DDM, PDM and BCM will lock all doors again.
Once the automatic door lock feature has locked the doors, the BCM will then unlock all the doors when the transmission is shifted into park.
Driver, Passenger and Cargo Door Lock System Operation
The front power door lock switches are integral components of the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM). The switches are two position normally open rocker switches. When placed in either the lock or unlock positions, the switches provide a direct input to the DDM or PDM. The DDM or PDM monitors these inputs and sends a Class 2 message indicating a change in the switch's respective position. Modules which activate the power door lock motors receive the Class 2 message and activate the motor in the appropriate direction to lock or unlock the vehicle's doors and liftgate. The rear door lock switch provides a lock and unlock signal to the body control module (BCM). The BCM upon receipt of a lock or unlock signal will control the rear door lock relays and also send a Class 2 message to the DDM and PDM to perform the appropriate function.
The modules which activate the power lock motors are:
• The DDM (driver door lock actuator).
• The PDM (passenger front door lock actuator).
• The BCM (both rear door lock actuators and cargo door/liftgate).
The DDM and PDM are directly connected to the respective door lock actuator through the door lock motor lock and unlock circuits. Once a door lock or unlock request has been received, the module will supply battery voltage to one side of the actuator and ground the other causing the doors to lock or unlock.
The rear passenger and cargo doors differ slightly in that they use lock and unlock relays. The relays supply and coil sides receive a constant voltage through the battery voltage supply circuit. The normally closed contacts are connected to ground and the control side is connected to the BCM. Once a door lock or unlock request has been received by the BCM, the BCM will ground the control side of the appropriate relay. This energizes the relay and allows voltage to be applied to either the door lock motor lock or unlock circuits. since the other side of the door lock actuator is connected to the normally closed contacts of the opposing relay to ground, the doors lock or unlock.

Battery failed and lights flashing?
Parking lights will flash when the vehicle's battery is disconnected and reconnected.
To stop lights from flashing, either:
Press remote transmitter "UNLOCK" button once OR turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and press programming button for one second (see below).
The vehicle interior (courtesy) light and door open warning light (DOOR AJAR indicator) will then illuminate for 60 seconds when the ignition is turned off, or until the doors are locked with the remote transmitter. Yes, the dashboard instrument panel lights will flash when the parking lights flash.

Programming or Overriding the Alarm when you have lost the remote
Open driver's door.
Turn ignition key to 'On'
Press and *hold programming button* in (see diagram, button under dashboard)
After 15 seconds the the door locks will cycle 3 times. Do not release Programming button.
Press lock (left) button the remotes to be programmed. The door locks will cycle one time. Exit programming mode by releasing Programming button under dashboard and turning key to off.

If you can't find it, it might still be tucked up in the wiring harness higher up in that same general area. The botton is recessed in a plastic ring (see diagram).

DESCRIPTION Two versions of the Central Timer Module (CTM) are available on this vehicle, a base version and a high-line version (Central Timer Module). Whichever version of the CTM the vehicle is equipped with, it is concealed behind the trim on the left cowl side inner panel below the instrument panel, where it is secured with three screws. The CTM is enclosed in a molded plastic housing with three integral external connector receptacles that connect it to the vehicle electrical system through one take out and connector of the body wire harness, and two take outs and connectors of the instrument panel wire harness. The base version of the CTM is used on base models of this vehicle. These base models are not equipped with the optional power lock system, the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system, the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS), or the remote radio controls. The high-line version of the CTM is used on high-line vehicles that are equipped with one or more of those options not found on base models.
The CTM utilizes integrated circuitry and information carried on the Programmable Communications Interface (PCI) data bus network along with many hard wired inputs to monitor many sensor and switch inputs throughout the vehicle. In response to those inputs, the internal circuitry and programming of the CTM allow it to supply the vehicle occupants with audible and visual information, and to control and integrate many electronic functions and features of the vehicle through both hard wired outputs and the transmission of electronic message outputs to other electronic modules in the vehicle over the PCI data bus.
The features that the CTM supports or controls include the following:
  • Automatic Door Lock - The high-line CTM provides an automatic door lock feature (also known as rolling door locks). This is a programmable feature.
  • Battery Protection - The CTM provides a battery saver feature that performs timed load shedding whenever courtesy, reading, visor vanity, center console, glove box, cargo lamps, or any exterior lamps are left on with the ignition switch in the Off position.
  • Central Locking - The high-line CTM on vehicles equipped with the optional Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) includes a central locking/unlocking feature.
  • Chimes - All versions of the CTM provide chime service and beep request service through an integral chime tone generator.
  • Door Lock Inhibit - The high-line CTM provides a power door lock inhibit feature.
  • Enhanced Accident Response - The high-line CTM provides an optional enhanced accident response feature. This is a programmable feature.
  • Exterior Light Features - The CTM provides control of park lamps, fog lamps, and headlamps. This includes support for optical horn (also known as flash-to-pass), headlamp time delay, cargo lamps, daytime running lamps (DRL - Canada only), and battery saver features.

Hard wired circuitry connects the CTM to the electrical system of the vehicle. These hard wired circuits are integral to several wire harnesses, which are routed throughout the vehicle and retained by many different methods. These circuits may be connected to each other, to the vehicle electrical system and to the CTM through the use of a combination of soldered splices, splice block connectors, and many different types of wire harness terminal connectors and insulators. Refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, further details on wire harness routing and retention, as well as pin-out and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.
All versions of the CTM for this model are serviced only as a complete unit. Many of the electronic features in the vehicle controlled or supported by the CTM are programmable using the DRBIII® scan tool. In addition, the CTM software is Flash compatible, which means it can be reprogrammed using Flash reprogramming procedures. However, if any of the CTM hardware components are damaged or faulty, the entire CTM unit must be replaced. The hard wired inputs or outputs of all CTM versions can be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and methods; however, for diagnosis of the CTM or the PCI data bus, the use of a DRBIII® scan tool is required. Camry 1996 automatic power lock doen't work, but windows work.


if you can here relays when unlocking/locking check for power at door lock actuators inside doors, if you have power on lock/unlock and good earth from connector actuators are faulty.
if no power on test light when operating check output from central door lock module while operating, none coming out of module then it might need replacing.
check 30Amp power fuse for main relay under bonnet (which goes to pin 8 white/blue on module)and 10Amp gauge fuse in cab(pin 1 blue/red on module),pin 15 is also power when relay is on(red/blue) with test light, and module/ actuators.
check outputs from module pin 3 & 4
blue/red
blue/black
that go to door locks

Ford F150 Pickup 2005 power doors unlock but will not lock


I had almost the identical problem on my 2005 F150 FX4 Extended cab last weekend. The power door locks would not lock using the keypad, remotes, or door buttons. Almost all other functions worked correctly. The doors unlocked, the radio delay functioned, and the interior lights dimmed. When I used the remote the horn would beep twice indicating that a door was open even there was no message on the message center that a door was open. When I used the keypad or remote, I could hear a soft click from behind the seat. I think it was coming from the body security module or body security module - whatever Ford is calling it this year. I pulled the fuse for the Power Door Locks(BSM). As I removed it, I heard a soft click - sort of like a relay resetting. It may have come from the VSM/BSM. It may have possibly been a stuck actuator releasing. I don't think so. It wasn't that load. In any case, everything is functioning correctly now.

Just get in your vech , close all doors. Using your power lock switch , lock all doors. After doors are locked take your Ignition Key and insert it and remove it from ignition switch in a slow fashion , but consitant pace. (97 and earlyer are fast) When you see the hazzard lights flash, put key in ignition switch and turn to the On postion .. Do NOT CRANK or you will have to Start over .. After in the On postion .. Hit the Lock button on remote... Hazzard lights should flash..( note..you have to reprogram all remotes when adding a new one , if you don't your old remotes will not work ) If your doing just the one , turn igntion switch off and unlock door and get out and try it. If you are doing more than one. While still in Vech with Key on . After you hit the Lock button on Remote and hazzard light flashed .. with key still on .. use master lock switch unlock doors and relock and then hit Second Remote, Lights should flash again , repeat if adding a 3rd remote.. after done just turn key off and unlock door and get out and try. Key fob not working


hello mate.. if it has stopped working you might want to check the battery first.. if you are sure that the battery is fine then consider reprogramming the fob to your car.. here are the steps to follow.. NISSAN

Remote Control Fob Procedures:

The Central Door locking is controlled by the Multi-Remote Control system which controls
the door locking, door super locking and emergency hazard reminders.

When the doors are locked and unlocked the unit flashes the hazard lights once for lock and twice for unlock.

A maximum of four remote controls are allowed to be programmed:

ALMERA
ALMERA TINO
PRIMERA
MAXIMA
MICRA
SERENA
VANETTE CARGO
TERANO II

Ensure all the doors have been unlocked, either by using a good transponder key or remote
control plip key.

Procedure:
1. Turn the ignition switch from Position 0 to ON 6 times within 10 seconds.
2. Next, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch.
3. Wait 2 seconds then the system will enter programming mode and will flash the warning
lights twice.
4. Press and HOLD the unlock button on the Plip.
5. While pressing the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times.
6. Release the unlock button.
7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming.
8. Repeat procedure 4 to 7 for up to 4 plip key's.
9. When completed turn ignition ON, and the warning lights will flash 2 times.
10. Remove key, and check all plip key's for operation.
NOTE : The programming mode will stop when either the ignition is switch ON, 4 plip keys
have been programmed or no input signal either from the switch or plip keys has been received
for 120 seconds.
