Question about 2002 Honda Civic
So last night in the rain I started my car, the engine started, but the electrical activity kick at hte end was delayed. The odometer went to all 8's, the radio/clock flickered on and off and the "SRS" light (which usually turns off after a few seconds) remained on. The dashboard lights remained dim once fully started and the radio LCD would be on while driving and the off when stopped at a light. I could drive the car, once I got up to highway speed the problem seemed to resolve and the was bright again and the radio was constant. Once I got home - no problems starting.
Could this be the alternator?
Well it absolutely sounds like an alternator issue. But i noticed you said "in the rain" correct? See this is where it gets tricky for most folks. But ill tell ya how to resolve this, if you arent having problems now things are gonna be just fine. I mean if you got up the next morning and th ecar did normal, then evidentally an electrical component had some moisture in it but has dried out now,so if it was the alternator the problem would only worsen, and within a few days your battery would fail. So I think you will be just fine
