What will happen if the timing chain on a 2005 mazda 3 snaps willit ruin motor

Yeap sure would but why will it snap, chains last along time I only replace a chain if it gets a bit stretched and starts to rattle and then I usually rebuild the motor, rings, bearings, valve grind, water pump and any thing else while its a part and looks like it needs a birthday, but if you just want to keep it going and compressions good and oil pressures good I have just done the chain to quiet it done and done thousands of miles with no problems every engines got its own problems to figure out. cya Neil

95 GMC 2.2L 4cyl motor, crank to cam timing, is it a belt or chain? Going to buy a Sonoma p/u that sounds like it has jumped it's timing.

It is a timing chain, no mileage posted, it is hardly a timing chain have seen those eng well over 180k miles and still running with erraticll timing course, but most possible is a ignition module at fault. Hope it helps

Does the timing chain and anything to with oil

Yes and no. If the oil pump is going bad the Connecting rods will knock. The Timing chain could be making the sound if the Chain guide came free. My guess is you have a 7 - 70 warranty and they are trying to get out of rebuilding your engine.

1991 Toyota Pickup 22RE. Loss in oil pressure, timing chain is really got a lot of slack in it. Got 197,000 miles on it. What might be the solution of fixing?

The soulution is probably going to be expensive. It sounds like your oil pump is going bad or your piston rings are not sealing properly anymore. As far as the timing chain is concerned if the timing is still good and/or you are getting no backfires under acceleration then it is just showing normal wear. You probably need to rebuild the motor. I have 2003 nissan sentra i have replace both cadilysts,o2cenc,camshaft cenc, cranckshaft cenc, masairflow cenc, haeted h2o cec,and timing chain all at 89000 miles and now at 93000,i think it blow a rodd what...

could be oil pump failure. i've seen this a few times on these cars! but won't be able to tell until the motor is diagnosed and taken apart to inspect the failed part. are you sure it is the rod?

that sucks after putting all the money into the car! that must have cost alot of money!

i have also seen bad timing chain guide go and make a hell of a racket from the front of the motor and kind sounds like the rods are bad. seeing you just had it done 4000 miles ago something could have come loose. this is the more possible cause...

if the oil pump was bad you would have had a red oil light on the dash and if that wasn't there i would look at the timing chain and try to pin point the noise more.

good luck and if you have any more question please ask i would be glad to help you more. sounds like you could use a break!.
