REMOVAL - 4.7L
The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) on the 4.7L V–8 engine is bolted to the front/top of the right cylinder head (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).

It is easier to remove/install sensor from under vehicle.

Raise and support vehicle.
Disconnect electrical connector at CMP sensor (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
Remove sensor mounting bolt (CMP Location—4.7L Engine).
Carefully twist sensor from cylinder head.
Check condition of sensor o-ring.
See picture for sensor location.

What is trouble code 41 for 1988 olds 98???

It indicates a problem with the cam sensor. The problem could be a defective cam sensor or it could also be the magnet attached to the cam gear that the sensor detects. They have a history of falling off after many heating and cooling cycles. If the magnet (about the size of a dime) is missing, replacing the cam sensor won't help. The magnet will need to be replaced.

Code p1391 99 grand cherokee limited 4.7 wont start

Try unplugging the cam sensor and then try to start. The cam sensor is on the underside of the passenger head towards the front of the engine. Is is accessible from under the vehicle. If it starts replace the cam sensor. Iffy it still does not start replace the crank sensor and the cam sensor. The crank sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine block behind the starter. The starter will need to be remove to acces the sensor. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Need to find where the cam sensor is at

the cam shaft positioning sensor is where the distributor used to be. the cam turns the distributor.you probably don't have a distributor and now there is a cam position sensor in its place. assuming you have distributors ignition, and coil packs.if it has a distributor, the sensor is located under the rotor and is held by 2 screws, but in order to remove it, you have line up the the notch in the mounting plate for the rotor with the sensor or you wont be able to get it out, its a very tight fit.

Hope it helps also if you need more info let me know, also vehicle make and model and year will help better give you location.

please if it helps 4 thumbs up or testimonial.

Engine light came on...reading states its my cam shaft sensor, but dealer states 1997 grand cherokees 6 cyl. dont have a cam shaft sensor...What can it be then? if reading staes its a cam shaft?

Your cam sensor is inside the distributor. Problem is they list it as a Stator, not a sensor. on newer models, the sensor replaces the entire distributor. To remove it, you need to take the distributor out of the engine and remove the center shaft etc.

Where is locate the camshaft position sensor on 2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo limited 4.7 l

The camshaft position sensor is located inside the distributor. It is a hall effect swich, simply remove the distributor cap and the rotor and you can lift it out, unplug and replace.
Have fun but beware a bad crankshaft position sensor can cause a false cam sensor code to be set sometimes.
Good luck.

2005 ford excursion cam sensor location I need to change the cam sensor and the crank sensors on my excursion and i do not know where they are located

On my 02 Excursion with the 7.3L Diesel, the Cam Position Sensor is located at the front bottom of the engine on the passengers side. There is one electrical pigtail plug that is attached and one bolt holds the sensor in position. It may be located in a similar location on your 05 Ex. I do not know where the crank sensor is located. I hope this helps.
