Disconected battery in closed trunk, only electronic opening switch
I have a 1998 XK8 Jaguar, the battery was disconnected and the trunk closed. How do i get into the trunk? There is no key hole in the trunk it only opens by a switch inside the car or by the key chain. HELP!

In the 1999 Jaguar xj8 there is a fuel cutoff switch on the passenger side right hand panel to the right of the feet. Reach over the top rear of the small panel and find a soft flexible membrane on the top of the switch and press it until it clicks.if that doesnt work, there is a fuel pump relay in the trunk fusebox that might be the problem. 1998 Jaguar XK8 fuel safety shutoff Bing images
i am sure this vehicle has a key slot and its behind the emblem ,seem to remember this question before and i wasnt sure but they posted a answer and their was a key hole behind the jaguar chrome strip thats across the boot lid ,but this may have been a different year ?? but as the battery is in the boot it must have access if it goes flat
right hand side of trunk
On the 2001 models, Remove the floor pan in the boot then lift the panel on the right. The battery is situated underneath along with fuses & relay switches.
If you can't open the trunk with the dead battery, then go to the hood, then you'll see a power point to hook a charger or jumper battery that will light the interior up for the trunk and the lock motor will open up.c
In the trunk on the right side behind the carpet is the hyrdaulic unit. There is a T fitting on it. Turn the T fitting counterclockwise to release pressure. Tighten it back up and try the top again. I have had this work for me several times.
go to autozone have them scan it and then clear it record the trouble code and then clear it another option is disconnect the battery both positive and negative and make a jumper wire between the 2 terminals make sure that you disconect the battery very importan
The Microswitch is actually attached to the Latch mechanism But I would suggest that you mark the position of the latch BEFORE removing the bolts as there is quite a range of adjustment available when the bolts are loosened!
Same thing has happened on mine!
The solution is to reprogram the window limits. You need to sit in the car with doors shut! Turn the key in ignition in position I or II, roll down the window all the way and keep holding the switch for 5 seconds, then roll the window up and again keep the switch pressed for 5 seconds, repeat same steps for other door.
Reprogramming is also described in the owners manual. I don't know how mine became deprogrammed, should only happen if the battery is disconnected!
