Question about Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

1999 Galant-4 cylinder- automatic. The check engine light came on and the cooling fan stopped. The fan will not come on when the engine is hot, but when you turn the AC to position 1, the fan comes on slowly when the AC compressor comes on.

Check your Engine Compartment Relay box. Underneath the lid may show where each relay is and its function.
In the image you can see where the Fan Control Relay is.

Cooling fan control when driving on X-way and then exiting to a stop light the temp does not show high but with steam coming out from under the hood it must be hot. The fan(s) never come on. At what point...

you can disconnect the fan(s) and run 12 volts directly to the fans to see if they are working...you need to check the following parts: there should be a fuse panel located inside the engine compartment...check the cooling fan fuses, the cooling fan relay, and possibly the cooling fan sensor located on the engine

1999 Saturn SL Getting Hot When Stopped

Check your electric cooling fan is cutting in when stationary. Air flowing through your radiator whilst driving keeps your engine cool. There is no airflow when stationary, so cooling fan is used to compensate, sounds like yours isnt working.
