I have a 2000 Mazda Protege and the radio/stereo that I would like to remove from the vehicle. How do I go about doing this. I've looked on line and I've gone to the auto parts store to ask for assistance. I've looked in the manuals that are sold in the autoparts, but I don't see the dash/console that is in my car. I see the dash for the older Protege's and the Mazda 6 in those manuls. I need to know how to remove the molding so I can get to the holes that I will use the DIM tool (if in fact it has those holes it may just have screws holding the radio). Can you assist me?
Gently pull of the moulding around the top ac vents and control knobs, then yes, use a flat head screw driver to pry at the feathered mount at the bottom of the stereo. careful not to pull to hard the ac/heat controls could disconect. pain in the *** to put back.
The picture guide: mazda 6 stereo removal will show you the Car stereo system installation guide for mazda 2, with that guide, you could get you mounting job done on your own easier. Have a great time
The radio is held on by the molding that goes around the a/c controls and the vents pull from the top by the vents and the molding pops out and the stereo is held on be a a metal piece that can be pushed back with a screwdriver and the stereo will pop out.
