The temp gauge will go up due to the added load of the AC on the cooling system, and as long as it doesn't overheat you are fine. I would have the system checked for a low charge, the symptom,s fit. You will need gauges and then the pressures tested to find out what the system charge is doing.
Sounds like you could be low on coolant, even more so because the air starts to cool down, check coolant level with engine cold, never open a radiator when hot.
What are you going by to say it's overheating , temp gauge ? Have you test to see what the actual temp. is > Hook - up a scan tool ,what's the PCM - engine computer seeing for engine temp. ? 223 degress the PCM should turn on the cooling fan . You could buy a
Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer With Laser Targeting at harbor freight ! Radiator very hot ????? What is the right temp .
Non Contact Infrared Thermometer With Laser Targeting
Could be a bad temp gauge . Is the coolant surging inside the cooling system ? Does it have a radiator cap ? Have you replaced it ?
Do you did you take out the rad. or have a shop do it for you. Your problem sounds more like the rad is not the right size for your car. The difference is very slight. The rad for a 4 CYL And the 6 CYL look very much alike. they even interchange with one another. But if your car has the V6 and you are running a 4 cyl. rad you may run hot like this.
Now if that is NOT THE CASE,
IF THAT IS NOT THE CASE >. You still have air in the rad. Open the drain port a small bit remove the rad cap, start up the engine and let it run till it reaches temp -- tighten the drain port and refill the rad, and the overflow to full. try all that and God Bless.
Did you replace the thermostat? If not replace it. Is the cooling fan running? If not check the fuse & thermal relay. If it has a bleeder valve it will be located on the highest part of the cooling system. It may not have one. With the engine cold remove the radiator cap. Make sure the radiator is full. Set the heater control to Hot. Start the engine and watch for escaping air bubbles. Keep the radiator full until you see no more air escaping. If it continues to overheat repeat the process.
YOU HAVE A LEAKING MASTER OR SLAVE CLUTCH HYDRAULIC CYLINDER (AIR LEAKING INTO THE SYSTEM), SINCE THESE ARE ALWAYS REPLACED TOGETHER IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHICH IS THE PROBLEM CYLINDER.
