Question about 2006 Dodge Charger

1 Answer

Clicking noise on Start up

Recently, when we start our Charger, there is an annoying clicking noise. It only happens about 90% of the time, and only lasts about 20-30 seconds. It seemed to start after we got new tires. Since our warranty doesn't cover "noises", do you have a suggestion as to what it might be? We are afraid not to have it checked out, but are afraid of paying through the nose for something that is really nothing.

I have the same problem, and I too have changed tires 1100 miles ago. The noise started about 140 miles ago. Haven't found the solution as yet.

It sounds like you may have a lifter going bad....if you are still under factory warranty have it checked out

Clicking sound near Idler pully

The bearing in the pulley is a single row ball bearing so you can expect a slight side movement in the pulley. Check the drive belt for cracks. Ensure that the belt is running at the top of the pulley and not down in the groove. Lastly if there is no other obvious problems then change the drive belt

I have seen this alot on the 90 ish vettes and it is going to be something to do with the security. When you have time I would just take it to the dealership so they can scan it and find out which part is bad and loosing memory.

if there is a clicking noise, its probably the solenoid on the starter. that unit pushes the starter motor forward and also connects the live of the starter.

Clicking sound on passanger side of GMC Envoy

The fan assembly moved out of position during impact. Loosen the assembly, and remove for inspection. Sometimes leaves or debris come out of a vent during impact, and lie against the rotating squirrel cage assembly---thus the annoying noise.

Clicking noise when trying to start car, battery is ok, wont start

That Clicking is the Battery causing it not to Start. You need to Replace that Battery or at Least put a Charger on it for a Couple of hours to see if you can Salvage it for a While.
