Question about 1993 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

1993 Pontiac SSE A/C compressor not turning on.

I have a 1993 Pontiac SSE with the 3800 TPI engine. I have checked the fuses and they are fine. A friend suggested that it might be the relay under the hood. I don't know which one it is or how to test it. The fan motor works fine as does the defroster. I just can't get it to blow cold air.

The a/c compressor will only turn on if it is full of refidgerant and presure levels aren't too high on the back side of the compressor. Check these first. Only use the appropriate type ie, r-12 or r-134 unless it has been flushed and retofitted.

1993 3800 engine Pontiac Bonneville car has 88000 miles.Locked up and can not turn it with wrench. What would most likely be the problem? No antifreeze in the oil.

It could be a lot of things, but remove the drive belt to check all the pulleys to see if they turn freely. If so,then If then engine still will not turn,by hand ,then remove the timing cover and check the timing chain and gears,if it is not in there then the engine will have an enternal problem.

Air conditioning pump on my 1993 chevrolet pick up will not engage. The fuse is fine .What else should i do?

Some of the home refill kits are funny , you have to turn the screw in all the way to puncture the bbottle , but then you have to turn the screw out almost all the way to allow gas to flow from bottle. When filling , engine should be running , A/C turned on. As you fiss the system , compressor will start cycling off / on / off / , when you reach the desired pressure ( around 45 ) compressor should stay running. If there was no pressure in the system , you must have a leak somewhere , and refilling it will give you cold air only untill it leaks out again.
