My solution would be to use a hammer or some likewise tool and tap on the side of the drum to knock the break dust and free the pads, then slightly tap on the end of the stud. Which should free the drums. Hope this was helpful, please rate. Thanks

I can't get the drums off the back of my 2001 Pontiac Sunfire, to do a brake job.

Hello first of all !!

Well here is the thing brake drums tend to rust to the hub assembly because they dont really get changed alot. That being said tapping it with a hammer will not work you will need to beat it fairly hard.

You need to start at the top and keep hitting around the drum it will wiggle free i looked at the picture of the brake drum and it does not seem you need to remove bearinings the large nut in the center of the dust cap.

But the picture is not very descriptive you may need to remove the large nut and slide it out.

Hope it helps if so please leave me some feedback thanks god bless

Locked rear wheels

you will have to try to move it. or you need to remove the wheels, brakes. if it has drums you can adjust them away from the shoes and it will spin free. if it has disc you may need to remove the calipers and then the pads. then remove the discs and clean them or replace them and the pads. go with an organic set of pads and they will not rust stuck again

I can't remove the rear brake drums off my 2005 pontiac sunfire, I think because i let the bad brakes go too long and they grooved into the drums, so how do i get the drums off now/

I do brakes on these all the time.On all of the brake drums after some time they get hard to remove since the drum rusts to the axleor bearing hub. When I remove the wheel and the clips that usually come from the factory around a couple of the studs I apply heat to the drum and spin the hub.9A small propane torch will suffice since it doesn't require a lot of heat. As it warms up the drum expands and ships off the hub. Do not heat the hub or it will grow with the drum. When warm it will tap off or a light pry from the back of the drum. Without heat I cannot remove 90% of these drums.

2002 pontiac sunfire ticking sound in drum brakes

make sure that you have the springs in the right positions. look very closly. i had the same problem one time and it turned out that i had the sprng in backwars and it was striking the drum. the best thing to do i drive it for a while like 10 15 miles kilomerts and then take off the drums again. look around for springss that are worn shiny paint missing. it could also be a piece of rust caught in there somewhere

You can get an entire latch assembly at any local junkyard for not too many $. When installing use scar marks and dirt around bolts on the trunk lid to locate the latch properly.

I need to change my headlights on my 1999 sunfire but i cant figure out how to get my headlight cap off.

My Wife Has a 01 Sunfire and if your is anything like hers. there's a plastic guard that sits on top it has aprox. 8 pull pins holding it in holding it down. Remove those pins and then there's 2 bolts on top side right behind the headlight remove those bolts then the whole light comes out.

Brakes pulsate real hard

That is just the ABS system at work. It is supposed to prevent your wheels from locking which often makes the brake pulsate, especially in wet weather or or snow or ice. The only way to really stop this is to disable to ABS by unplugging it and removing the fuse. This will make the ABS light appear in your dash, but your brakes will stop pulsating.
