Hi,
I found the answer to your problem.
Honda programed this "maintenance required" into the cars computer to get you to bring the car to a dealer for their expensive oil changes and such. You can do those things yourself or at less expensive places. Nothing wrong with your car. Just a reminder to change your oil, look at your air filter, check your fluids. To turn off the light yourself ----------------------------------
The answer is even in your manual! Hold down the trip meter button, turn the car to on, wait about 20 seconds, start the car, and let go of the button. Light is reset until the next mileage interval.

*make sure lo beam headlights are turned OFF during the procedure*
Best Wishes.

Normally if its going to be an O2 sensor,, the check engine light would come on, not the maintenance light, I don't know if your car has 2 different ones, My 2000 civic does though,, normally a maint light comes on if its time for an oil change , etc... rest the light,, heres how you do that you use the button that resets your trip odometer to reset the maintenance light.

with the key in the ignition but not turned on, hold the trip reset button in with one hand. then, while holding the button in, turn the ignition key to the ON position so that the lights on the dash come on.

continue to hold the reset button in and watch the maintenance light. it will take about 15 seconds for the light to go out

when the light goes out, turn the ignition key OFF and then release the trip reset button.

your light will be reset and come on in about another 5000 miles to remind you of the next service

2000 nissan sentra manual transmission 1st and 2nd gear misfiring....

Sounds like you have a major misfire problem. The light is flashing because the ecm has determined that the problem is severe enough to cause damage to something. If your engine light flashes it is a warning not to drive the vehicle. I'm assuming this is a four cylinder. My guess would be that only two of the cylinders are actually producing any power. I would need the following details to help you further. How many miles are on this engine? Has the necessary factory maintenance schedule been maintained? In other words have the appropriate parts been changed and serviced to keep this engine performing properly. Many things could be causing your issues. Do the necessary maintenance first, like spark plugs and whatever the manufacturer requires and see what happens. If this does not help I can help you with the rest.

AIR BAG SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF AFTER CAR HAS RAN FOR A MINUTE STAYS ON

There are so many sensors and modules in that system that the only way to determine the problem is to get a computer diagnosis. If you are in a state where car inspection tags are required,I don't remember if it will pass or fail.I have seen many forums on this subject and it could mean that a certain airbag may not deploy during an accident. There are sensors in the bumpers and if you have side airbags, there are a few on each side too.You can contact a dealer to see if you can reset the system. If you can and it does not work, your only option is computer diagnosis.Wish I could be of better assistance.

I guess it doesn't make much difference if there are 'idiot lights' or illuminated text messages; they amount to the same uselessness.
Call a chain auto parts store in your area and ask if they do free scans of the stored error codes in your on-board computer. These codes can give a very good idea if you are dealing with a potentially damaging or hazardous condition.
Such scanners are broadly available and unless Nissan has gone insane, the majority of the codes they use will conform to the OBD II code set. The scanner I bought at Harbor Freight Tools on sale cost a whole $30 so when one of the text idiot lights decides to annoy, we can plug in and determine what needs attention. Ours also lets you reset the code memory so the annoyance (if unnecessary) will stay gone.
