The O2 sensor was checked and is fine . Even pluged in new one with no change . As best I understand it his final conclusion was his meter showed "desired flow 7% ,actual flow normal " he did not voice any other trouble codes . he thinks the desired flow (o2) is what is tunring the light on .Thank you

May i ask why the service light is on? and don't you think they should fix this for you? if you bring the car to auto zone they can reset the check engine light for free and you wont have to disconnect the battery, and go through the trouble of getting a radio code, but before they clear the codes have them write them all down and post them back here so we can tell you whats up with your engine. the codes may affect your gas mileage and everyone knows they don't give that stuff away!! good luck hope this helps and please rate this -Jeff

yes so basically you my have a bad o2 sensor or an exhaust leak before the sensor, possibly even a restricted catalytic converter all three of which will hurt your fuel mileage. did he offer any advice beside clear the light and try it? i am not trying to knock on your mechanic but sometimes they just cant figure something out and they tell you "oh its a fluke of nature" just clear it and see if it comes back lol yea maybe that works every now and again but not likely, then they charge you $89 to clear a code... anyway if i can help at all i would be glad too, let me know what he gave you for options -please rate -jeff

Reset service engine soon indicator

This can be reset either with a OBD2 code reader or by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes, I recommend using a code reader as the battery way causes you to loose all programming of radio and other personalized data.

The "service engine soon" light just appeared on my 1997 Dodge Neon after I put in some oil. I bought the car second hand so I am not sure what oil was used before. I am wondering if anyone knows why it...

its because the car is due for a service soon,it gives you about 800 to 1000m warning of an impending bill .....
if you did lots of stop/start motoring the "service engine soon" light would come on sooner than lots of highway motoring.
just adding oil is not servicing the engine....and once done it needs reseting...

Radio won't turn on

if you have the anti theft code for your radio (if its stock) disconnect your negative battery terminal for 30 minutes.....reconnect and enjoy....did you use a reset tool or did you jump the diagnostic pins to reset?
