I am from pakistan and i own a chevrolet caprice classic. i need to replace the brake booster as it has ruptured. there ain't that many mechanics who know how to deal with american cars. need suggestions for brake boosters that can be used instead of the originals (there are practically no spare parts of these cars) and instructions on how to replace it.

The brake booster from most of the GM cars of the same size should fit. To change it you need to unbolt the master cylander from the booster be careful not to kink brake lines disconnect vacum hose from booster unbolt booster from fire wall. Now replace in reverse order. Always be careful of the brake lines.

Two issues...
The brake booster has a ruptured diaphragm. Replace the booster.
It is located under the hood between the brake master cylinder and the firewall.

Your master cylinder may be leaking fluid internally past the plunger.
Have it examined when you change the booster.
