1995 buick skylark air condition problem

Compressor is not getting power on the air conditioner. Already checked fuse on the dash. Had the compressor checked by a mechanic and he said it is good. Seems to be some kind or electrical problem. How and where can we check this and fix it ourselves.?

The mechanic we took it to already charged it and said there was no problem there. It is something to do with electrical. We don't know where to start with that.

Thank you! Hubby will check it!

If the system is not fully charged the compressor will not run. Check to see it the system uses 134a refrigerant for the cooling system. You can buy them in Walmart or other parts stores and try to charge it yourself. It will tell you under the hood by the systems tag how much refrigerant it takes.

Also have the mechanic check all the wires to the compressor to see if any are broken somewhere also check the ground wire. There also may be a relay switch under the hood near the firewall gone bad. If he said it's electrical, those are the only other things to check.

Where is the low pressure air conditioning service port on a 1998 Buick Skylark?

Locate your AC compressor.
The low pressure service port is located on the back of the compressor where the high and low side connections bolt to the compressor.
Look on this line about 4 inches or so back on the line.

Hope this helps.. Best of Luck

Problem with heating and air conditioning. The driver's side is blowing hot air and the passenger side is blowing cold air

Air Conditioner blows warm air
  1. Air conditioner system is discharged. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by an MVAC certified technician, utilizing approved recovery/recycling equipment. Repair as necessary.
  2. Air conditioner compressor clutch not engaging. Check compressor clutch wiring, electrical connections and compressor clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.

Radio, lighter, and air conditioner on 92 buick le sabre malfunctioned...radio and lighter won't work at all, air conditioner won't recognize being turned on anything but defrost and defog. Could it be...

Check for a fuse that indicates radio and replace it if it's burnt through or melted or discolored. The Buicks have dash controls that require expensive repairs sometimes to get the temperature controls to work so some people jump around the controls by installing a separate toggle switch that directly turns the AC unit off and on for 92 through 94 Buicks. Any AC shop can install the bypass wires.

1995 Buick Skylark and the A/C clutch is stuck car wont start.

You answered your own question? Fix the compressor! What state are you in? Do you need A/C? if not, bypass the a/c and use a shorter belt, if it does not interfere with anything.

Is there power at the compressor? If not, check the level switch located at the rear of the vehicle (connects the rear axle to the body via a small arm that moves with body up/down motion)
