Your owners manual probably states you should be changing the automatic transmission fluid (ATF)every 30,000 miles. Try changing the ATF and see if the shifting improves.

You have transmission issues, the first thing to do is have the fluid changed in the transmission to see if that improves the hard shifting and then go from there.
Do you have a CVT? (Continuosly Variable Transmission) I doubt that you do so if you dont, nissans are known to have hard shift into second gear you mean.(Once the car moves, its already in first gear) so if it shifts fine into other gears, I wouldnt worry too much unless it gets worse.
Have the clutch looked at. If the clutch is not releasing fully it makes shifting difficult. Have the trans fluid changed too, it isn't expensive and probably is listed under your maintanance in the owners manual
I have seen this happen in numerous cars, I have a mazda that does that, my buddy has an 04 suzuki aerio that does that etc etc etc....
There really ins't a "fix" for that as it really is just what late model manual trannys do, all you can do is just let your car warm up. If you are really concerned you can throw a new tranny on there but once it gets broken in it will start doing that too. Sorry!
STOP Downshifting!
STOP Forcing gear change, watch the Engine RPMs and shift accordingly, HOMBRE's are as good as the operator's. Hombre's have dash shift indicators which illuminate when it's time to 'shift' and not before, This has nothing to do with gear oil either. If you've drained it, you best fill it immediately and make sure it's ample level. The heat these gears sustain in is inceredible, cooling lubricant is essential. Here's a tip, while engine is OFF, ignition key is engaged, dash is illuminated, depress clutch peddle, keep it depressed and walk through all gears with gear shift, shifting should be smooth and unpeded, including reverse. If resistance is experienced at one or more gears, gear alignment is off as a result of inproper gear shifting while driving. Continue to drive vehicle just shift slower until clutch needs replacement then do an entire drive shaft upgrade. It worth it, it's great truck.
