1996 Ford Taurus transmission "dumps " fuild

Our 1996 Ford Taurus has a rebuilt teansmission, drove great for many months, then started "dumping " the transmission flluid. It will drive fine, doesn't seem to mater how far, or how many stops you make, then after you turn it off, start to go again, it will just let the fluid pour out. Any idea what coyld cause this? Thanks so much!

There are no guarantees when it comes to a rebuilt transmission or anything. They usually have a warranty for the work all depending on the mileage afterwards. Is it over it? Most likely the gaskets need replacing and the bolts tightened again.

My taurus dumped its transmission fluid

This is caused by an overheated transmission, the overheating is caused by an internal failure of a severe overloading of the transmission like towing.

I put a rebuilt transmission in a month ago and only really drove to the dump.i drove it around 60 miles with no problem.i went to drive it the following day and when i put it in reverse it makes a ginding...

transmissions are very vehicle specific, like it has to come out of the same year, same make and model, and have the same bolt patterns, also the gear ratios have to be the same. if the gear ratios are different you can take it to a transmission shop and they should be able to fix the ratio problem, although if it is grinding in reverse, that is the first sign to a bad transmission.

Where does one dump in transmission fluid on this vehicle?

On most cars you put the transmission fluid down the same tube where you check the level. You want to ad just enough fluid, putting too much fluid in will do as much or more damage than running it a little low. On your dip stick there is an area usually mark min and max you want your fluid in between these lines. On most vehicles the difference between min and max is about 1/2 pint. There should also be printing on your dip stick telling you what type of transmission fluid to use.

I have 1996 ford taurus the transmission has lost drive and over drive .i have chaged the filter and it was working fine for about a week

Fluid and filter changes, have no roll whatsoever, on the diagnosing or repair of an automatic trans.

Pull the unit and have it rebuilt.
Your not getting back, two shift stratagies, any other way.
