I changed the fuel pump on a 1997 Monte Carlo 3.4 motor and now I have no fuel pressure. The pump motors turns on but it doesn't pump any gas. Do I have to bleed the fuel system? and how do I do that? thanks

Disconnect fuel filter near tank and turn on, if you still hear the pump pulse and nothing comes out, a good chance that little 3" hose between pump and pick-up tube came off. Also, make sure it wasn't ran dry. There is no bleeding. Check the fuel rail schrader valve if you have fuel at the fuel filter. Good luck, will check on you later.......

Is there a way i can check the fuel pump fuse

it is easier to test fuel pressure no pressure no pump easy test for pump have some one turn on key as you listen to fuel tank with gas cap off ear to filler hole. pump should run 2-3 seconds and shut off

97 Monte Carlo LS getting hot while driving then cools off when letting off gas

have a coolant pressure test done. Have the radiator cores checked for blockage. Sometimes when an engine has sat for a period of time, rust and scale form in the water jackets of the engine. ON running ,this breaks away and blocks the cores of the radiator Other times the old motor tolerates a partially blocked radiator when a relative new motor needs all the cores free to maintain the temperature.

Hello: WHEN IT DOESN'T START THAT IS THE TIME YOU NEED TO DIAGNOISE THE PROBLEM. A INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE NEEDS THREE THINGS TO RUN- AIR, FUEL AND SPARK. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE. CHECK FOR SPARK TO THE SPARKPLUGS. IT COULD BE THE ENGINE COMPUTER , THE IGNITION MODULE. IT COULD BE THE CRANK SENSOR. WITHOUT HANDS ON DIAGNOSIS I WOULD BE GUESSING.

My 97 monte carlo will turn over but there isn't any power to fuel pump I know it works and I've changed all the fuses and relays and also got the key checked.... I don't get it also checked...

The ECM BAT fuse powers the fuel pump through the relay. If the gray wire has power and the black wire has ground, and the fuel pump does not operate, its bad.

I have a 1998 Chev Monte Carlo SS, The engine turns over but doesn't start. It seems to not be getting fuel but am not sure.

disconnect the hose that goes into the fuel injectors rail, put it into an empty coke bottle and ask for a friend to put the ignition switch in the on position. if there isn't gas going into the bottle, then you should check for the fuel pump relay and if it's ok then check the fuel pump. Check the fuel pump fuse too.

Check fuel filter, fuel pump pressure, try putting a little gas in the intake manifold, if it starts adn stays running, the fuel pump is not putting out enough presure to open the injectors to start.
