Clutch replacement on 2004 tiburon with a v6 6 speed

i had the same problem 04 Tib GT 6 spd V6. My clutch went out at 19800 miles, apparently they all will at about 60000 or less, ive talked to numerous people and they have all said that they had to change their clutches way too early. The problem is that Hyundai will not admit that there is a problem with their clutch assy. There is currently a class action law suit against Hyundai for the 2003 Tib clutch problem, if everyone with the 04 would call HMA (Hyundai Motors of America) and ***** at them the way i did everyday for 3 months, maybe they will do something about it. My best advice for replacement, do not go with factory oem, way to expensive, (over $2500) find a clutch and flywheel assy for a turbo application,( it can take the high rpms the Tibs put out ) you can find one online for about $1000 (sharkracing.com might have one) and have someone you trust install it for you! Good Luck and tell everyone that you know with an 04 Tib to call about their clutch problems so maybe we can get something back from Hyundai!

I have a solution for your clutch failure.
ALL... Hyundai Tiburons from 2003 and on use a clutch slave cylinder delay valve.
It is designed to smooth your clutch engagement.
Problem?.. It RUINS clutches by slowing down clutch engagement.
It actually MAKES your clutch slip!
All you need to do is REMOVE this silly little 8 dollar part and not only will your clutch feel fantastic, you will have normal clutch wear!
I myself own a 2004 Tibby, and took the valve out since early 2006 and have put 25,000 miles trouble free miles from it.
I thought the clutch felt "Odd".. being a long time driver of manual transmissions, it just wasnt right.
I felt like there might be something slowing down the clutch engagement.
I was right.
This can be considered a Mod, because it improves performance (lack of slipping).
Why Hyundai used this part at the cost of warranty claims is beyond me, but I have given you the solution to your problem.
This part effects both 2.0L,I4 and 2.7 V6 engines.
This will not affect your warranty because they will never know its missing. ;)
I feel hyundai needs to take care of its customers, but I assure you, no matter how you get this problem resolved from the dealer.. PLEASE REMOVE THE DAMN VALVE.. you wont regret it!
:)

This is bad news either way, whether you have a manual or automatic transmission. The transmission is slipping if it an automatic or your clutch is worn out if it is a manual transmission.
Assuming you have an automatic, is may be the transmission is slipping because the transmission is not quickly shifting gears.

If you transmission shifts using hydraulic valves, there may be hope. You can add a can of SeaFoam transmission oil or similar product that helps stuck valves move. If you have solenoids used to shift the transmission based on motor RPM and pressure sensors, you need to go to a transmission shop to run more complicated tests. In that case, go to someone who is familiar with your vehicle model.

Have your clutch and clutch master cylnder and slave cylder checked. If they check out good you most likely have a bad synchronizer in the transmission.

2003 Tiburon 6 spd clutch replacement now tranny won't respond

Possibility, you may have intalled the clutch disk backwards.... if so, the disk hub is torqued against the crankshaft hub preventing engagement of the clutch. 2003 TIBUORN DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION: The 2003 MY 2.7L Tiburon vehicle equipped with the 6-speed manual transaxle employs a dual mass flywheel system. The 2003 Tiburon Shop Manual does not show the clutch disc assembly with the dual mass flywheel. This bulletin provides information about how to assemble these components. NOTE Although it is possible to assemble the clutch disc with either side facing the flywheel surface, only the assembly of these two parts shown in this bulletin is correct.
PARTS ASSEMBLY:
  1. Attach the dual mass flywheel to the engine crankshaft assembly.
  2. Identify the clutch disc flange side and the collar side as shown. 0240025a.gif
  3. Install the collar side of the clutch disc on the dual mass flywheel surface so that the flange side is facing the pressure plate side as shown. 0240025b.gif
  4. Attach the pressure plate to the dual mass flywheel and complete assembly of the remaining components per the Shop Manual procedures. 0240025c.gif
