Question about 2001 Mazda Tribute
Where do I find the idle air control valve on my 2001 Mazda Tribute. I am having the same problem mentioned previously. When I start my car it will not idle. It dies, unless I rev the engine. Eventually after enough reving, it does not die and I can shift. I took it to a Mazda dealer and they said it was my starguard ( kill switch) malfunctioning??? They wanted to charge me 300.00 to remove it. I don't think they are correct...please advise.
Thanks so much.
The Idle Air valve is connected to the throtle body by two metal screws. I got it fixed by cleaning and lubricating it. You do have to remove the wiring clip. There is no idle control except for this device. I have noticed that I had to do it twice to completly fix it. Also check the egr valve.
