My wife dropped the kids off in her lincoln MKZ, then went to the gas station to get gas. When she went to start the car it would start and nothing happened. When I got there someone was jumping the car when I jumped in the car to start it, every electronic light started flashing, while it when trying to turn on and then it started. It seems odd to me the battery would be an issue since she had no problem starting the car 10 minutes prior.

Thats how it goes sometimes, have the battery load tested.

It is very possible for the battery to just die even when the car is running and charging properly. Batteries have a designed working life but that is normally a guide. Some will be replaced during waranty period while other work for 4 years. It would be a good idea though to check for any shorting that might cause the battery to go flat, the charging system itself and a disconnecte lead from alternator to battery.
