Suspension Leveling System Problem for 1998 Lincoln Navigator

First of all, I'm not sure where the pump is located. Next the pump makes a deep pumping noise every few minutes whether it is parked or as I drive. Can I replace this pump? Is it a leak in the air bags. Is this noise suppose to be so loud?

    1999 Expedition Eddie Bauer 4wd.

Bounces all over the road, severely soft and mushy ride. Ride height seems ok? Notice a compressor/motor kicks in intermittently, usually after being parked for awhile after being drive. Can you "see" the air bags to see if they are inflated are where would I look?

Hi :-)
I don't know how will this help, but you can check the car in the morning before you start it, look under it and check the level, is it dropped from the front or back. this way you can tell if you have a leak and where. if not then i think its the level sensor. in the 1998 you have two one in the front left. and one near the deferential in the back.

hope this helps you in anyway.
have a nice day.

Auto leveling not working

Your best to replace the air suspension on any
Navigator with conventional shock & spring assy

That system is too complicated & expensive to
diagnose ---if you pay some shop

There are many companies that offer the conversion
& most poeple are happy after doing so

Under the hood there is an air compressor to fill the air bags on the suspension. With age the compressor draws excessive amps and blows the fuse. Check the fuse and see if it has popped. If so replace it. If the fuse is good ,locate the compressor and check the electrical plug to it to see if it has become corroded. If corroded pull the fuse and scrub the contacts with a brass brush untill clean. To keep it from corroding in the future apply some dieletric grease to the contacts and plug it back in. hope that helps, Rich.

My air suspension will not air up

your air pump has gone out. replace it and make sure none of your air springs are leaking since that could have been the cause for your pump to have gone out. constant running of the pump will over heat it and burn it out.

The rear of my 1999 Navigator went down and is n't going back up.What can it be?

Suspension leveling system obviously has a problem, either fuse, pump, line leaking or whatever. If your not experienced with it, a shop that specializes in shocks & struts etc, should be able to help you out.

The navi has leveling sensors on both axles that are switches and are adjustable. Most likely these are out of calibration. DO NOT attempt to move or adjust these with the vehicle on jack stands. Vehicle could shift and fall resulting in serious injury.

2001 Lincoln Navigator Air Suspension

the auto leveling is standard on the navigator.
first you have to understan that the auto leveling system is on front and rear of these trucks.
one way to tell is do you hear the pump running and do you have air in the front bags. and if you do you need a rear level sensor.

Hi Friends, I just bought a lincoln navigator 1998 and it makes a rough intrmittent sound as if it is coming from the engine or fan. It sounds like a tractor and all of a sudden it becomes normal .please...

if it makes the noise when you first start and then goes away It is probably the air suspension pump coming on like normal. These pumps have a tendency to be noisy. if there is no noticable problem with the suspension except for the noise I wouldn't worry about unless the noise bothers you.It is about a $500 repair
