Question about 2001 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

Power window The window on the driver's side dropped down. I removed the panel and it looks like a plastic clip has broken. The dealer said it all comes as one one piece regulator, too expensive. Is there another way to repair it?

I have a 2004 V6 Pontiac Grand Am GT, the driver side power window will not go down. I can hear the motor running but nothing. Had someone take the panel off

Not sure if SE model is same as GT, but I had a similar problem. There are plastic guides that connect the cable from motor to the regulator framework. That plastic guide or clip can break. The other possibility is the actual plastic clips that connect the window to the regulator arms are broken. Either way, the motor is not the problem.

My 2002 bonneville passenger rear window dropped, I have power windows...not sure how the side panel comes off to look at how to possibly fix this and I dont see any screws....doesnt help that I am not...

You will need a new window regulator, the cables have likely broken. There will be a few hidden screws behind pop out covers, the panel will then pop loose from it's plastic clips.

Is there any certain way to remove the driver's door panel

There's a few tools you'll need:
panel removal tool $7-$10 (forked)
if you have hand crank windows you'll also need a window crank removal tool
screw drivers - philips and small straight
Note pad and pen or pencil
zip lock plastic bag
May need:
socket set
allen and torx drivers

Use the note pad to make notes where everything goes.
Open the door all the way.
Use the straight screw driver to pop any small plastic covers off.
remove any screws that are holding the panel or arm rests or anything else attached to the door (this is where the socket, allen or torx drivers may come in handy)
put all the small part in the plastic bag (use more than one to keep things straight, if you need to.)
starting at the bottom back corner start gently pulling the panel, you'll soon find spots where it's sticking, here you'll find plastic panel attachment pins. Using your panel removal tool, slide it under the panel and find the panel pins, slide the tool around the pins and pry them loose, You may find an extra screw you missed or a few panel pin toward the center, remove as before.
The panel should now be hanging by where it clips over the window edge (if working indoors, putting the window down ahead of time helps here) gentle lift and pull the panel up and off where it's hanging.
All that's left is disconnecting any wires, there will be clips molded into the sides to hold them in place, gently lift the clip and disconnect them.
Your panel should be loose.
Reverse to reinstall.

How do i get door panel off of driver side door to fix window back on track

remove all screws(phillips) remove the power window/locks switches carefully, all along the door panel edges there are clips that hold the panel onto the inside door skin these must be carefully pried as to not break them, they are plastic... have a screw # 2 phillips driver, flat bladed also to pry panel etc. and a pair of needle nose pliers to remove any clips that stay stuck in the door skin once the panel is removed. Look over the panel carefully and be sure you remove anything that ressembles a plastic caq/cover to ensure safe removal. Go slow do it right the first time!!! Good luck. John

4 Door. Drivers side rear window has dropped down

window regulator has failed. Look for an after market one the GM replacement is junk. Usually it is a clip that holds the cable to run window up and down. probably a safety clip used if someone gets cought in the window, GM will charge you over $400 for the fix. not hard I have it down to about 30 min. and around $100 for the regulator.

Hi the forward clip of y driver side mirror is completly broken im petrified to roll down my window bc its broken off the track 3 times and finally that part broke and im in the military and daily have to...

my suggestion is to order a power window regulator, you can get from several auto parts stores onlinelike, I had a similar problem on a 2000 model and looked at fuses and relays, all were good. the regulator can be as much as 300.00 at the dealer, was a good choice for me. remove the panel, this can be tricky so start with the latch area, 1 screw behind a plastic cap, 1 in the door pull area, start removing the panel at the bottom and use a flat blade screw driver or similar item to get under the panel should pop out, and this will sound like you are breaking it, but it will be fine. remove the innerlining plastic (tears easily) so be careful with this. three bolts on the regulator and two window clips or bolts. 4 bolts, 2 each side of the tracks, reinstall as you have taken apart. good luck and look for about three to four hours of time.

Power window of front driver side door will not go beyond half

THis is common Too common. As I posted before.

It is broken and catching the window on the way up.

As I posted in the Passat questions.

The jetta may slightly differ.

Yes. If your window has fallen down and will not roll up.
99% Chance you car is suffering the Infamous VW plastic clip.

The door panel comes off With a T-10 torx or a Hex (Allen) wrench
that will fit and A large Philips Screw Driver..

Remove the Plastic cover on the inside Door handle.
And the Screw or Screw along the Bottom of the door panel.
Then remove the screws that hold the handle the the door.
They are located behind the Plastic plate you removed with a tiny screw driver earlier... Be careful not the mark up the cover whaytprying it up. It is best to pry from underneath. Where marks if made can not be seen

After the screws are out 4 I believe. The Use of a CLip tool ir best.
For getting behind the panel to pop it off. A screw driver will work.

After all the clips are released. Pull the light at the bottom of the panel down and out. Disconnect it ur push it back thought the hole it came from..

Now you need a 10mm socket, or wrench to remove the 12 bolts that hold the metal plate to the Door. Remove all the 10mm bolts, If the widow has not already fallen in the door. It should be released. By removing the Black 2" plugs. THe loosen the bolts that clamp the window the the arms. DO NOT LOOSEN THEM ALL the way, .
Disconect the all the wiring.. THe Door lock cable, can be a pain.
I think it pulls down,.
Next remove the Metal plate. that is the regulator.

reverse to install

2001 oldsmobile alero window off track,

first remove the door panel there are three screws that need to be removed first 2 under the inside door handle and 1 on the lower left hand side behind a reflector then pull off the panel it will be held on by push clips, once inside move the plastic weather bearrer to the side ,run the window half way down you should see 2 window holding brackets pull the window up so you can drop it in the brackets, first get some black window adhesive fill the brackets with adhesive put window in brackets and roll it up and leave it up for 24 hrs.If the brackets are broken you will have to replace the whole window motor assemly which you can get on line for 89.00 not the 250.00 at dealer and you can install it yourself its easy to do.

Broken power window mechanism in the drivers door, on a 1993 Toyota Camry. How do you get the inside door panel off?

Remove the plastic screw covers at the forward edge of the door. Remove the 2 gold coloured screws.
Using a flat blade screwdriver, insert the blade above & below the locking thing at the door handle, pry up and down, top & bottom respectively. Slide & pull the handle out, remove the rod going to the handle.
Remove the 2 big screws for the door panel. 1 is under a small trim cover, the other is under the armrest
Remove the lower light & unplug it (if you have one) which may be under the arm rest (it pops out)
Press the centers of the 2 round push clips that are on the rear edge of the door panel and pull the clips out
Remove any screws at the bottom of the door panel (if you have them)
Starting at the bottom of the panel pull straight out with steady, even pressure as to not snap the plastic clips. After the bottom & side clips are disconnected from the door, lift the top of the panel straight up.
Remove the plastic sheet that covers the inner shell of the door.
Uning a 10 millimeter socket, remove the bolts that holds the window onto the regulator
Remove the window, up & out thru the top of the door
Unbolt & replace the regulator.

Inside door handle 2004 sebring won't work

First off, you'll need to be able to remove the door panel. there are plastic clips (Push in body clips) as well as a couple of screws that hold the panel on. If you do not have power windows, you'll need a tool available from most any parts store to remove the window crank handle. You can get a window crank handle off with a couple of standard screwdrivers (There is a small metal clip that locks the handle on) but this normally results in damage to the panel. When the panel swings freely away from the bottom of the door, gently slide it directly up to remove it.

Once there, you should be able to clearly see the handle assembly, look for a metal rod about 1/4 inch in diameter that is supposed to be attached to the handle assembly via a little plastic clip. if either the clip or the handle assembly is broken, the rod will disconnect and you will be yanking on a handle attached to essentially nothing.

Door rod clips are available through most auto parts stores for $4-5, handle assembly's you can sometimes get through a wrecking yard, or order from the parts store.

Once you have the panel removed
