I cant get my hood to latch on my 1997 lincoln town car. Ive tried slamming it down multiple times and ive replaced the latch. I dont know what to do. Please someone help me??????

Look and see where the latch arm (on the hood) is setting on the latch(on the body) This is only an estimate, as you lower it and look, then line it up by sight. Have a flash light. The latch can be adjusted some by loosening the bolts. If they still don't line up, Use a hammer and bend the latch arm over to get it aligned. It only bends left and right. Not front to back.

Trunk wont close all the way

Could have an electric motor that pulls the trunk lid down, and it could be faulty. Or the latch could be damaged.

Lincoln town car trunk motor broken

You will have to go to a dealer & purchase a new
electrical trunk latch.

There is no work around, as you would like.

You could price a new one & one from a salvage yard

The hood latch on my 1992 Lincoln Town Car Executive will not latch. I had to have the hood replaced and I now notice there is no bar in the hood for the latch to hook over.

Use the latching assembly from the discarded hood. I hope it wasnt damaged. Replacement hoods are just sheetmetal. There are a number of accessories that you should recover, such as insulation material, windshield washer piping and nozzles, among other. Remember upon installation of the bar assembly to leave some play in the screws, so, that the bar can move to its aligned position when you first close the hood. Then lift it up again, and tighten the screws. Than you for using Fixya.

Hood on 2001 town car will not open ? any idea's on how to get it open when release will not do anything & what could be wrong with it pull's but does not relase ................

have someone press on the hood as you pull the release. You may have to shake the hood up and down to get the release to work. after you get the hood open, spray the latch with lube to free it up.

What can be the problem when my 1992 lincoln town car trunk wont close all the way?

First, check for anything that might be in the latch area, a plastic bag, etc. The latch must hit metal when it closes so the pull-down motor will work to pull the truck down. If nothing is in the way, the motor is most likely bad.

My trunk latch on my 1997 Lincoln Town Car, Signature Series, will not pull down. It has no power.

replace the electrionic latch for the pulldown motor, thats the problem its common, i would just replace the whole assembly, but if you know how to take it apart then just do the switch part, if you power up the motor when you take apart you can test the motor part of it, good luck hope this helps.

The hood latch cable is broken or disconnected, how do I get the hood open to repair

if you can't pull cable under dash, need to access from under front of car. Try to pull cable or remove 2 screws holding latch on.

Trunk latch pull down

You could try setting release to work manually. I have had the same problem. Take tne motor off set the catch clip at the right height. This should work with no cost.
