Open Question

Recurring fault in 2001 XKR Jaguar fault code/s PO400, P1642, P1797

Faults can be cleared by electrican but continue to return. Fault P0400 is EGR flow and has been taken apart, cleaned and worked ok for 2 months now engine fault is again displayed.MPG is less than my 1998 Daimler Super8 which is a bigger car. Is it possible to ditch the EGR setup and run without all that junk?

I find it difficult to believe that a long distance solution can be achieved, not that I regard it as impossible. Let's see if anyone has a similar problem and then review the situation. Jaguars are beautiful cars but are plagued by shonky engineering.

i had the same problem with my s-type, when i went to jaguar dealer for diagnostic and they told me it was trans problem, need new trans and will cost me $4500 to fix it, so i think you will be better off looking for a salvage trans to put it in your car, it will cost you around $1500-$2500 including labor. i hope that will help some of you with gear box fault massage. oh try and find some one who knows a lot about jaguar before you send the car for trans repairs.

Have exactly the same issue on 04 jag x type 2.5. So far have replaced fuel filter, air filter k&n, plugs ngk. Codes cleared, same issue. Seems to appear when air temp is cold and eng is warm.
Am replacing upstream O2 sensors and cleaning MAF next. Will keep you posted if it clears up. Did you ever find the cause?

99 maxima ran till it was parked now it turns over will not start gave code p0400 any ideas

The fault is somewhere around the EGR valve - probably the EGR valve or the throttle position sensor.

Before replacing any sensors try removing and cleaning the EGR.

I have 3 codes , po400, po443 & po135 have very low gas milage w/surging

PO135 is your EGR valve, P0400 = EGR Vacuum Leak, (EGR valve may need replacing, or may just have a hole somewhere in the EGR vacuum line ..
PO435 = Air Canister Purge. ( possible water in your air canister needs to be drained).

1995 millenia fault codes PO400 and PO 115what has to be done to fix these.

The P0400 has to do with a fault in the EGR (Exhaust Gas recirculation) system. The possible cause is leak or blockage, wiring, EGR Valve or EGR solenoid or the ECM.
P0115 has to do with the ECT (Engine coolant sensor) possible causes for this fault is wiring or the Engine coolant sensor itself or the ECM.
I believe I have the testing for both of these if you need them. Send me your email and I will send you the test procedures if you are familiar with how to use Ohm meter and a vacuum tester.
