Does the engine run badly while idling at 5 miles an hour?

    Yes rough

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2011

in that case i would check your spark plugs, ign wires and ign coil. i'm guessing one of those is faulty and past a certain speed cannot keep up with the spark

  • eyez518364 Sep 05, 2011

Would that stop it from accelerating

  • eyez518364 Sep 05, 2011

While acceleration the rpms will drop to 0

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2011

yes it would. you could also have a clogged fuel filter, fuel pickup screen, or a bad/malfunctioning fuel pump. i would recommend going to autozone and getting a fuel pressure gauge and checking that out if replacing spark plugs and ign. wires does not work

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2011

go out and get a fuel pressure gauge and check your pressure. if it's not around 35 psi then look at a malfunctioning fuel pump. that's probably the most likely problem

  • eyez518364 Sep 05, 2011

I changed the fuel filter first then the mass air sensor

  • eyez518364 Sep 05, 2011

What about the throttle position sensor

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2011

i gauruntee then that it is your fuel pump. considering it's a lexus it may be pretty pricey like my land rovers fuel pump, but you may get lucky. also try putting some fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank and running it for 10 minutes. if the idle starts to pick up as the cleaner runs through the system you have dirty injectors

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2011

i really doubt it. if it was your throttle position sensor the car would idle fine or be too high and then start having worse problems as you drove it

  • eyez518364 Sep 05, 2011

May add I just went to emissions the before this started and I passed

  • eyez518364 Sep 05, 2011

    What about the cats

  • eyez518364 Sep 05, 2011

I asked about the throttle position sensor because when I start the car it will idle high and the rpm will be at 0 then jump up then when I attempt to drive it will go stop

99 volkswagen beetle 2.0 engine problem

Cat is usually damaged from vehicle misfiring, Those codes you posted are a MAF, idle control, and 02 sensor codes. The MAF sensor could be reading incorectly causing the car to run rich or lean, and giving the 02 sensors bad readings, i would deffinetly look into the MASS Air Flow sensor, which is located on the intake tuping near the airbox

You can also try cleaning it with MAF sensor cleaner

Black smoke points to unburnt fuel. I would start by replacing the spark plugs and wires if you have not done so in the last couple of years.

My 2000 nissan maxima dies about 4 or 5 times when i first start it in cold weather

If you're getting check engine light take it to Autozone and they'll read the code. On mine the Mass Air Flow sensor was the culprit. Engine codes suggested MAF, manifold vacuum leak, coils, injectors clogged. Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner did nothing. Ultimately I replaced each coil ($75 per cyl) but still conked out like yours. MAF cost $300 at the store, but found one online $97 took a gamble and replaced in 5 minutes. It really made a difference.

Hello. I can assist you. Generally when a scan is done, the technician will clear out all of the codes and hope that the problem self corrects. I am glad you passed the state emissions test. Now let's get to the bottom of the hesitation. Generally all lincoln and ford cars that hesitate like yours have a problem with the "mass airflow sensor". Most likely you will need to replace it.
The Air Flow Sensor or Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) is one of the components of an electronic fuel injection system and is found in many of modern vehicles. The Mass Air Flow sensor is usually installed inside the intake air duct between the air filter and the engine. The Mass Air Flow sensor is used to measure the amount of air entering the engine. This measurement is used by the engine computer or ECM to calculate proper amount of fuel injected into the cylinders in order to provide optimum combustion and low emissions.
Problems with Mass Air Flow sensors are common. Bad or contaminated Mass Air Flow sensor can possibly cause a wide range of various vehicle driveability problems such as stalling, especially when the engine is cold, misfiring, poor acceleration, etc.
In addition, a problem with the Mass Air Flow sensor often causes the "check engine" or "service engine soon" light in the vehicle instrument panel to illuminate.
The "check engine" or "service engine soon" light comes on when the engine computer detects some fault in one of the components of the emission control system.

Low power can't accelerate ch engine light jus came on hour ago

Hello;
You need to have the codes pulled and diagnoised. It could be the cam sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, or the catalytic convertor as well as a combination. Have you cleaned your Mass air sensor?
Hope this helps;
